  1. More free prospects. Playing the numbers game, love it.
  2. Pumped for what should be a really close series with some great hockey. But REALLY most excited that these Canuck-less playoffs are almost over and it's almost time for offseason armchair GM fun times. LESGOOOOO
  3. Yep, I remember very well the Vancouver goaltending graveyard before the Luongo arrival changed everything.
  4. I'm not trying to act like I knew it'd be a waste. Just talking about how it turned out. It's not the end of the world, just a waste. Hopefully they can recoup some value or he has a big time bounce back season next year.
  5. So in the end it was a big ol' waste of a pick, cap space, and everyone's time.
  6. I wonder what Zadorov would command as a UFA. I know he is a LD but he has played the right side before and I think could easily be moved over.
  7. Was just reading this article and am just so dang thankful that we have Demko https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article/six-potential-value-goalies-for-maple-leafs-oilers-to-consider/
  8. Great, Boudreau is the type of person who will have a fire lit under his a** if he thinks there's any competition for his job. Expecting him to coach EVEN HARDER next year.
  9. https://www.cbsnews.com/boston/news/no-chance-david-pastrnak-re-signs-bruins-don-sweeney-general-manager/
  10. Was just thinking the same, as long as our newly overhauled player development team does its job.
  11. Contender for the playoffs or contender for the cup? I think we are seeing what generally happens to the 'anything can happen' teams with the Oilers right now, they don't have the depth to stand up against the Avalanche. Miracles can happen, I spose.
  12. I think they are for sure a playoff team next year if Demko stays healthy. Can't see Boudreau not taking this team to the playoffs with a franchise goalie (fingers crossed)
  13. Watching the playoffs, I think we do need a couple of bold moves. We're a couple of important players short of being a contender, with almost no cap space or assets to add said pieces. Difficult situation, and we're all going to have to be ... ugh... patient...
  14. Oof. Two 3rd liners and a #4 d man for our best forward
  15. Stoked we were able to sign this kid! Nice addition to the prospect pool.
  16. I remember when we thought NY was going to give us all their good young players for Miller. Look at them now
  17. Yeah I'm not sure he'll have much interaction with those college players outside of the summer development camps. Found a short but interesting thread on Sergei Gonchar working as player development coach for Pittsburgh, most replies seem to think he'd be working primarily with NHL and AHL players. I'm assuming that means young NHL players in their first and second years, and then obviously AHL prospects.
  18. Most likely those College players will be attending development camps during the summer, rather than having full time development. I'd then expect the Canucks player development group would be interacting with the players remotely from time to time. Found this list of college players attending summer dev camps in 2019 https://collegehockeyinc.com/ncaa-players-2019-development-camps.php The most important NCAA rules I can find are that the players are not to miss classes to attend development camps. Is there something I'm not seeing re: rules about players being given coaching by their pro clubs during non class time?
  19. Yeah I'm not necessarily leaping to any sort of defense here, I am just seeing your questions and believe I have an answer. Which is, direct, focused, customized coaching. My assumption is Komisarek and the dev staff are going to work in lockstep with the training and coaching staffs, and certainly not in a vacuum. I don't believe that the team staff has the ability to give custom catered coaching to each and every player while also creating a team game plan and structure, so I think the role of player development is to supplement the areas those coaches and trainers can't get to.
