gaunce already has a quicker, more deceptive release and better accuracy than kesler.
  2. he was spinning off the guy like a running back, not piroutteing like a ballerina. you get the guy to commit to contact that you know you can avoid by luring him in.

well for one its in a thread about brendan gaunce for some reason. secondly, people need to stop overrating evander kane. i wouldnt give up the two first rounders alone for a 60 pt locker room cancer prima donna.
  4. reason for what, schroeder not getting his number? if this was the year for him to graduate they would have given it to him in training camp. at the very least they would have kept it available until he was healthy. schroeder isnt in this teams plans.
  5. and hodgson wore 39 before getting 9. so what? its great that you expect that. i expect you to be wrong. and if the canucks were prepared to give schroeder his big boy number this year, whyd they let a waiver wire pickup have it instead?
  6. schroeder isnt (and probably wont ever be) a full time roster player.

i see gaunce turning out a lot like shawn matthias, maybe with a touch more offence.
  8. anybody remember another case where one team was consistently terrible enough to finish with a lottery pick year after year after year the way edmonton has?
  9. tanev is worth far more than schroeder so those proposals don't make sense.
  10. watching the hockey team i want, when i want, on the network i want is a right guaranteed to me by the canadian charter of rights.
  11. the leagues contract with cbc is up after this coming season, i believe. i fully expect ctv to outbid cbc for the national weekend broadcast rights.
  12. the only way i want to see ian white on the canucks is if it's a package deal with nick lidstrom.

he can't play in utica. his do people still not understand the chl/ahl age rules?
  14. what assumption did i make other than assuming you don't have inside info about the numbers and term being discussed, which you obviously don't?
  15. that's a very specific assumption to make based on absolutely nothing.
  16. drafting russians, unless they're a can't-miss, top 3 picks, preferably having played junior in north america, is too risky. gillis won't do it, and i'm glad.

you guys don't think a guy calling himself "dangler696969" might be here to ruffle your feathers a bit?
  19. the debate over whether they need a hardass coach or not is irrelevant. the fact is, whether they need one or not, this group will NOT respond to it. they're veterans, they've been there and done that, they're cocky, and most importantly, they're intelligent. they're too smart to be afraid of a coach because they know the reality of their situations; that as long as gillis is there, they're safe. in fact, i personally believe that the collective intelligence of the team was both the key to their success in 2011 and to their failures since. they're smarter than the other teams, and they know it. they were smart enough in 2011 to look around the league and see that they were, on paper, very clearly the best team in the league, and that gave them extraordinary confidence. likewise, in the years since, they've been smart enough to be very aware of their shortcomings and of the fact that their manager has done nothing to bolster those areas, which has led to a sense of defeatism. it's also led to the hubris evidenced in bieksa's statement, and most of his interviews in fact, and even more worryingly in the interviews given by the team captain where he blindly states that the team is playing well outside of the powerplay.
  20. i mentioned in the other thread that i'd like to see portland winterhawks coach/gm, and former canucks assistant under marc crawford, mike johnston, get some consideration for the role. he has familiarity with a lot of the core, he's the offensive mind behind the wce years, he's great with young players, and he's been honing his skills as a head coach, not to mention gm, for a few years now with a fair amount of success. supply him with a defensive guru that commands respect as an associate coach and i think you're on your way to an exciting and successful brand of hockey.
