Someone told me a couple weeks ago they will never cheer for a loss, because they are a real fan.

I argue that is short sighted and narrow minded, a real fan wants what's best for the team and it's future.....and what's best for the team and it's future is drafting the best players possible in the upcoming draft. Winning games down the stretch achieves absolutely nothing for this franchise, other than "moral" victories.

If this management group didn't have this draft in mind, they would have addressed the goaltending weeks ago.

I think if you go to a live game you should be cheering for a win, but other than that...

Yeah you just never know what offers would have been drawn up. Easy to say hold out for Schneider but you don't know if that would ever materialize.

Right! Maybe "try to hold out for better/different deal" would have been better worded.

I know people were upset because there wasn't a d-man in the deal, so some people would have taken a different deal or waited until closer to the deadline to try to get that d-man.

  3. Confession:

I'm upset with my girlfriend about Valentine's Day (well Saturday).

We had soft plans and as I was explaining to her what else I was planning that day, she interrupted me to tell me we were invited to her sister's boyfriend's cabin to ice fish and sleepover with other people.

Usually that would sound like fun and I'd be all for it, but we are also supposed to be dog sitting those days so we shouldn't be away from the dog for too long.

Something that was supposed to be so amazing has turned into a cluster**** and she didn't seem interested in budging about the cabin.

I've recently made the idea to postpone valentines day to the 25th and hope the weather will cooperate for that day, but she hasn't gotten back to me yet.

    You have impact.

    - Don't go to games.

    - Don't buy merchanidize.

    - Listen on Radio/Internet instead of watch on TV.

Less revenue will send a message the fans are unhappy.

The problem is Ownership/Management aren't doing what they should in building a better team.

They should care less about playoff revenue and look for long term success that means the team can compete for the Cup for years to come.

The only issue is that this only shows there is a problem, and not what that problem is.

For example, people could stop going to games because they feel management has no direction and it's pointless to watch games.

However, Aqua could view this as "we're not an exciting enough team, we must go all-in to make the playoffs and start winning."

I think this is where fan interaction would help, as we could explain what we are looking for and what we are comfortable with (will watch young talent develop through tough seasons if it means becoming a Cup contender).

Anyone else can’t stand Mark Scheifele? That guy seems like an Uber douche. Not just cause of his hattrick but everytime I see that guy I cringe. I wanna like the Jets but can’t cause I can’t stand that guy

Agree, he seems like the kind of guy who would have bullied me in high school lol

How would this be possible if they made the World Cup finals 7 times and won it 5 times?

Ehh...I guess for me it's just been since I've watched (2006 and on), which Brazil has not won a World Cup. They have a tremendous history, but I just haven't seen them be better than the other teams who have won.

Weird, everywhere I saw and everyone I talked to considered France to be one of the top favourites. The consensus top 3 from what I gathered was

    1. Brazil

    2. France

    3. Argentina

I had France as my number since they are proven winners and still in core ages (whereas Belgium is past their prime).

I did not trust Brazil, since they seemingly always disappoint outside of the group stage.

Argentina was another of my favourites going into it, but I actually prefer Croatia after watching them this tournament.

I think France will win, but I wouldn't mind seeing Morocco win either since I love non-European winners too.

Thomas also got away with a lot of whacks and crease clearing that Lu never was afforded.  He played a physical game for a goalie..one that Tyler Myers, an actual d man who SHOULD be able to do some of that stuff, only wishes he could get away with. All the power to him, it worked.

Instead of talking in rumours that, especially at this point, aren't proven or valid...there are things that did factor in. I mean we lost and there's no point in going over it...guys fell apart when then most needed to take control. But don't think, for one second, having a daddy who was involved didn't factor in. Yes I know, people will point at penalties but timing and momentum is important as part of that.

But if you want to talk about cocky, uh, Bruins have that market cornered in Brad Marchand alone.

At this point, it just is absolutely classless for Chara to go there...go high, not low. Be a gracious winner and keep the comments focused on positivity. The Sedins (alone) deserve better...don't try to somehow smear their deal. You want to talk about teams and shenanigans, I'm not sure Bruins should be pointing fingers at anyone. I've got one to point right back at them. Ha, trying to somehow paint our team as the ugly one. Right. Remember Raymond's broken back? I do. Idiot fans booing and chanting at him as he lay there. Not much concern shown there by the home team or their Booin fans. Let's focus there instead of what the Canucks may or may have done in their private moments. Creepy stalkers. (I was over it but I guess maybe the wound is open again).

And if the Canucks did get ahead of themselves and were celebrating a win prematurely...well, it bit them in the butt and they paid for it. There's no need for Chara to do this at this point. I'm sure the Bruins room was very respectful (right). And their on ice antics were perfectly in line (post whistle).

They won...was that not enough? Shut up and go tell Brad to quit licking people.

Had respect for Chara (sort of, in a I don't hate him as much as I should way)...that's all washed away....

Haven't read the thread...just cringe to see this being rehashed with a new slant so Chara somehow feels relevant still. Bieksa says hi...staying relevant by showing respect and using his wit, charm and character. Burr behind the bench. Using their own merits to build from and putting the trash talk in the past where it belongs (at least the stuff with a serious tone...Bieksa shows great restraint at times when he could use his platform to trash other teams, but doesn't).

Our guys are just fine in retirement...not so sure about Zdeno is this if how he spends his time. Get a hobby. Or maybe he's lining up a gig at TMZ?

I think healthy team vs healthy team Vancouver wins. Vancouver was heavily injured and still took Boston to 7 games.

Thomas won Conn Smythe, but any goalie would have won with Boston in that Finals (all their wins were blowouts).

I think Vancouver would win that series 8/10, but it just didn't happen.

Wow! I am still shaking my head at Japan's second goal. Different angles on VAR and the ball appeared to be out.

Lucky for Japan, but very unfortunate for Germany. :sadno:

Yes, I just saw it now and it clearly looks out (though it could be an angle thing). This will lead to speculation that Qatar wanted Germany out for their earlier political actions, but I also think Spain wanted Germany out, so they didn't mind either.

Either way, Germany just needed a tie against Japan to have moved on, but they started flat. The young, fast players played well for Germany, but I think the team will look quite different in 4 years, especially in net (not blaming Neuer, but he isn't the same either).

Japan wins the group.  Crazy.  Germany out.

Germany had a big chance to beat Spain, but instead of shooting, tried to walk around for a perfect cross and didn't score.

I didn't see the controversial goal in the Spain-Japan game, but Germany has nobody else to blame but themselves for going home early.

  11. Curious to see how tomorrow shapes up for Group E.

A Japan tie against Spain would force Germany to beat Costa Rica and cover the Goal differential.

A Japan loss and Germany could get in with a win.

If Costa Rica wins, the Spain-Japan game becomes even more important, so I don't think you'll see any team rest starters.

The Russ trade will go down as one of the most lopsided trades in NFL history. Getting exposed without the LOB.

The Broncos offensive line looks even worse than Seattle's did, with Russell scrambling on every play.

Russ is struggling this season, but the play-calling and o-line have made things much harder on him than it should have been.

Yeah, I think this and companies like FUSE are the ones to go for. FUSE is waiting for their drilling results but it is expected to make tons of money.

I have invested in both FUSE and PWM, as their price points make it easy to commit to them and I agree they should both be positive locks.

I'm not sure what their peaks are, but they don't have to skyrocket.

Gudas has a tendency to chase hits and get out of positioning, has he improved in that regard?
If Reinhart's on his way out then I think him and Gudas for Myers and Garland is a move I'd make.  Just not sure I'd want Hornqvist, even if we could sell him as a depth guy for power play purposes to a contender looking to add a piece.  IF we're looking to clear the deck and reset our roster by shedding a bunch of cap, then I'd be down for this since after this year we'd only have Reinhart left on the books and we could choose whether or not to retain Gudas.

    Sounds like Douglas Murray.

Ehh, nothing truly shocking about Belgium winning games at this tournament, much less Canada losing to them (or losing in general).

It's true that Canada didn't take their chances, but this is still a game that Belgium *should* be winning, regardless.  It would be that way even if they were playing some of the better European oppositions.

The fact that Canada played Belgium as well as they did is the remarkable thing, much more so than the result.

I mean, that's all true, but I thought Canada might get a high from the first game and get some goals.

I agree that Canada put on a good show though, which shows promise for the next two games.

That last kick looked like it would have missed if it hadn’t been blocked. But Boris Bede of the Argos was no Lui Passaglia either.

Yeah, Legghio has really low trajectories on his kicks too, so it makes them more blockable.

I don't think you'll see him back next year, as even the kickoffs/punts were terrible (even with the wind) which gave Toronto a lot of short fields.
