Not to high-jack this, but what about if you go by yourself? I've always wanted to go with my SO, but they don't exist lol.
My parents went to Victoria for their honeymoon and really enjoyed it.

This series has kind of gone how I thought it would; defensive battle with a lot of the offensive stars not showing up for Calgary. I had Calgary winning in 6, but would have picked an upset had they not been playing the Stars

Seider should win in a landslide and it shouldn't even be close. The fancy moves of Zegras might get him some votes though. Seider is already a #1 defenseman in the NHL, with a well-rounded game both offensively and defensively.
He's got some snarl in him too, just a great all-around d-man that I hope can grab a Norris as a 40 point d-man in the future.

If the Canucks had such a low statistical probability of making the playoffs then why didn't JR trade Miller and a few others to load up on draft picks and prospects? The reason why is because there was a chance to make it, so he ran with it. Trading your best 4th round player when you've made the decision to go for the playoffs is s dumb move.
Again, I will say it one more time. JR publicly admitted he didn't trade Miller at the deadline because he was trying to make the playoffs. If that is the case then not only should he have kept Motte he should have made at least one more move to improve the team to give them that shot...
It could also be because the value wasn't there and they are under contract for another season, so they didn't have to sell them.
Motte was a pending FA due for a substantial raise that would make him hard to keep, and with the unlikelihood of playoffs, it made sense to get something for him rather than let him go for nothing.

Not necessarily. You can also collect too many picks as well arguably. There is also the argument that if you're "too good" you end up maxing out your contract limit, letting potentially good picks go.
Therefore, it's not about quantity over quality as is it increasing the chance of quality through quantity (provided you don't go too overboard for the above reasons I mentioned).
That's at least how I see it anyway.
I want quality in early rounds 1-2, then quantity in later rounds (3-7).
So get more picks in the later rounds (trade a 3rd for 2 4ths), but get more quality picks (trade 2 3rds for a 2nd and a 5th) and higher quality picks (a top 10 pick versus the 29th and 31st pick).
I think you need a balance though, as simply having top 10 picks with few picks later won't be helpful either (2 great players, and then no help, so if one player busts you are screwed), but drafting 13 players from round 3-7 will also be harder to find key core players.

Josi
Nashville's team runs through him, whereas Makar is another outstanding piece on the Avalanche.
I know that sounds like an MVP justification, but it's what gives Josi the edge on another offensive d-man who can play defense.

I personally love that it's difficult to get into the playoffs now. It seems like a bit of a joke that the 80s Canucks made the playoffs for six straight years and it was obviously because of the very low standard to make the playoffs. I prefer that you actually have to be a good team to make it into the playoffs.
Yes! I hate NBA teams that make the playoffs below .500.

Gaudreau still no showing so far, which was a big concern I had for Calgary going deep.
That said, I don't have a lot of faith in Dallas, so I still expect Calgary to win the series.

Colin Miller. Was a solid top-4 RHD defenseman for Vegas, crunched minutes, put up great offensive numbers while also being great defensively and playing on the PK. Has underperformed terribly in Buffalo (understandable considering how awful that team is). Would be a big upgrade over Schenn to partner with Hughes.
3m x 2 for Miller is going to end up looking like a steal.I would love Miller for 3-3.5M for a couple seasons.

You could tell Demko wasn't himself near the end of the season.
I hope Martin or whichever backup we get can reduce his load for next year.

I thought Philly was rebuilding too, but others on here have said they are under a lot of pressure to make the playoffs NOW.
Philadelphia wasn't even making the playoffs consistently before this year (every second year was a miss).
Trading away Giroux signalled a turn of the tide, and I think Philadelphia should rebuild (especially looking at how competitive their division is).
couturier could get a nice haul as well, and Edmonton could be interested in Hart if the Flyers try that.

This is the first time in a long time the Flames have a good goalie for the playoffs.
I want to pick against Calgary, as I still don't trust their star players and think Marky is only going to be decent, but the Stars aren't that great and don't have the goalie to steal it.

Kyle Hamilton is going to be a star. What a steal
The slow 40 time dropped him, but I think GMs will be upset if that's why they didn't pick him.

I think the lions completely changed this draft for the Eagles lol.
I would have preferred Williams and keeping the 3rd, but obviously not an option after the Lions picked him.
Getting run stop, but I also thought of getting a pass rusher since we need more pressure and sacks.
I feel meh about the Eagles first round.

Giants pick Thibodeaux...damn that will make things tough for the eagles

4 year 8.2M per year deal
Or we wait until next year when he likely doesn't do as well
4 year 7.6M per year deal (or 4 year 8.75 if he repeats)

I think we win this game with normal Demko, but I know he isn't 100 per cent

pulling this out of my keister, but I wonder if it plays a role in demmer losing his stick as frequently as he does. if it's not flush to his pads like a flatter curve, I could easily see it snagging on guys skates as they go by him in the crease.
That isn't Demko's stick.
I'm not sure what Demko's stick looks like, but I'm not about to stick around the showers to find out.
