Seider should win in a landslide and it shouldn't even be close. The fancy moves of Zegras might get him some votes though. Seider is already a #1 defenseman in the NHL, with a well-rounded game both offensively and defensively.

He's got some snarl in him too, just a great all-around d-man that I hope can grab a Norris as a 40 point d-man in the future.

If the Canucks had such a low statistical probability of making the playoffs then why didn't JR trade Miller and a few others to load up on draft picks and prospects?  The reason why is because there was a chance to make it, so he ran with it.  Trading your best 4th round player when you've made the decision to go for the playoffs is s dumb move.

Again, I will say it one more time.  JR publicly admitted he didn't trade Miller at the deadline because he was trying to make the playoffs.  If that is the case then not only should he have kept Motte he should have made at least one more move to improve the team to give them that shot...

It could also be because the value wasn't there and they are under contract for another season, so they didn't have to sell them.

Motte was a pending FA due for a substantial raise that would make him hard to keep, and with the unlikelihood of playoffs, it made sense to get something for him rather than let him go for nothing.

Not necessarily. You can also collect too many picks as well arguably. There is also the argument that if you're "too good" you end up maxing out your contract limit, letting potentially good picks go.

Therefore, it's not about quantity over quality as is it increasing the chance of quality through quantity (provided you don't go too overboard for the above reasons I mentioned).

That's at least how I see it anyway.

I want quality in early rounds 1-2, then quantity in later rounds (3-7).

So get more picks in the later rounds (trade a 3rd for 2 4ths), but get more quality picks (trade 2 3rds for a 2nd and a 5th) and higher quality picks (a top 10 pick versus the 29th and 31st pick).

I think you need a balance though, as simply having top 10 picks with few picks later won't be helpful either (2 great players, and then no help, so if one player busts you are screwed), but drafting 13 players from round 3-7 will also be harder to find key core players.

I personally love that it's difficult to get into the playoffs now. It seems like a bit of a joke that the 80s Canucks made the playoffs for six straight years and it was obviously because of the very low standard to make the playoffs. I prefer that you actually have to be a good team to make it into the playoffs.

Yes! I hate NBA teams that make the playoffs below .500.

Colin Miller. Was a solid top-4 RHD defenseman for Vegas, crunched minutes, put up great offensive numbers while also being great defensively and playing on the PK. Has underperformed terribly in Buffalo (understandable considering how awful that team is). Would be a big upgrade over Schenn to partner with Hughes.

3m x 2 for Miller is going to end up looking like a steal.

I would love Miller for 3-3.5M for a couple seasons.

I thought Philly was rebuilding too, but others on here have said they are under a lot of pressure to make the playoffs NOW.

Philadelphia wasn't even making the playoffs consistently before this year (every second year was a miss).

Trading away Giroux signalled a turn of the tide, and I think Philadelphia should rebuild (especially looking at how competitive their division is).

couturier could get a nice haul as well, and Edmonton could be interested in Hart if the Flyers try that.

  7. I think the lions completely changed this draft for the Eagles lol.

I would have preferred Williams and keeping the 3rd, but obviously not an option after the Lions picked him.

Getting run stop, but I also thought of getting a pass rusher since we need more pressure and sacks.

I feel meh about the Eagles first round.

pulling this out of my keister, but I wonder if it plays a role in demmer losing his stick as frequently as he does. if it's not flush to his pads like a flatter curve, I could easily see it snagging on guys skates as they go by him in the crease.

    That isn't Demko's stick.

I'm not sure what Demko's stick looks like, but I'm not about to stick around the showers to find out.
