  1. It seems he did more by the age of 18 than most people accomplish in their whole lives.
  2. Linden said Aquilini's wife said 20 years ... AT LEAST ... that's not contractural fact but what they envisioned I believe. I don't they released terms though.
  3. If that's how you see it I can totally live with that. Player safety in that case should have been Paramount. It's these people blowing smoke up MG's butt when all the facts point to MG making pretty stupid comments regarding the reasoning and timing of his decision. Lot's of these guys just like to argue with anything. Shoot, I'm no better.
  4. Yeah right Henrik. LOL Stupid. that's why letting these players call the shots has been a huge mistake by MG all along. If Henrik thinks that he's absolutely fraacking crazy.
  5. You still haven't addressed the 100 games issue which you conveniently left out because there is no defence. It's like MG went around driving smashed out of mind for a half a year. Luckily he didn't kill anyone and you guys are handing out medals. Your point is fine but if you want to use that logic then he should have been shut down a year earlier, not when it was convenient to the team. Is this really hard to picture. I don't know why I bother. Anyways Linden.
  6. So, what the hell was MG's view on Manny's health 20 games into his recovery? Apparantely with serious eye injuries you can't get hurt until the following year I guess according to you folks? Have any of you guys ever actually played sports? Giving a player 100 games to test out a possible career ending and life altering injury in the NHL is absolutely ludicrious. I can't even think of words to describe how dumb that concept is. The facts are he sure as heck didn't give a damn about Manny's health until Kelser needed to return. That's a fact.
  7. If you don't get that one you just won't get it. You don't play a hockey player 100 games and then suddenly decide to shut him down when your at game 9 of the season and Ryan Kesler is magically returning and you're in self bought cap trouble. Well actually that's fine as Manny wasn't cutting it. you just don't be a degenerate liar and blame it on the players health when anyone that puts any thought into it can see that wasn't the case. Disgusting, deplorable, and despicable. Hockey is a dangerous game by the way in which everyone takes on serious risks.
  8. Well that's good news. I trust Trevor.
  9. Wow, a President that treats his fanbase with decency and respect. Also, Gillis hired Torts as was said all along. People still throwing Torts under the bus for absolutely no reason.
  10. Yeah, probably fair assesment. He has got us into the playoffs 5 out of 6 years. He's also spent more money than any other Canuck Manager in history. If you just look at the numbers then MG actually looks quite good. My entire argument comes because we can't waste more time on him. We gave him the last 3 years to get some better calibre players, and fix obvious factors like getting a top 6 forward that can play with Kesler or the twins. He couldn't get it done or worse yet he might not even get it. He still seems to claim this core is good enough when we all know it's not. Whether he's just lying like usual or not is hard to tell. Either way I can't understand warranting him more time when all he's done is waste the last 3 years. I don't think he would have ever figured it out here but he'll probably learn quite a bit for next time.
  11. Am I sensing some slight displeasure with MG's time here?
  12. Bottom line he gets paid millions of dollar to manage a hockey team. The team has been seriously depleted and in a state of decline for 3 years now. Regardless of what happened with Luongo and Schnieder the result was failure. You can make all the excuses in the world for him but the reality in life is that if you have terrible results in your job for 3 years running chances are very high you're going to be fired. For the record I would have been just as happy if we traded Lou for a similar return back before the CBA, even cap space would have been fine. Gillis got greedy, Gillis didn't read the market, Gillis got burned. He had Schneider, his only job was just to trade Lou. He got greedy and he got caught when in reality the cap space. He could have turned around and used that cap space for the second liner we've desperately needed for 3 years now.
  13. He really seemed to have a problem doing things in a typical hockey fashion, even though he's never been a GM before he seemed to have to overthink everything. At least he cared, I'll give him that.
  14. Well if you followed the story closer you also knew that Lou said it was highly unlikely he could remain in Vancouver next year. There was also speculation of some bitterness between the parties. Regardless Lou had to be traded during thi9s year, or this summer. We got the most we possibly could and stopped the bleeding. So yeah, his back was completely against the wall because he traded the guy that wanted to be here and kept the guy that publicaly wanted to be traded. Obviously looking at the return can prove that as well.
  15. No that's a 100% correct. If I saw that keeping 2 starting goalies and being a greedy bastard going into an uncertain CBA lockout situation was super dicey certainly the guy in charge should have seen that as well. In fact, as soon as Lou offered to move he should have been gone shortly after. That whole situation was grossly mismanaged to the extreme. Anyone that disagrees is deluding themselves to the max. Also, how many years did you plan on giving him to figure out something he should have learned at least 3 years ago?
  16. You don't just go and fire the head coach you just signed the year before for 5 years unless you want to look like a bunch of retards. Also only if you like throwing money away. I don't buy this crap about the owners meddling. There is yet to be a shred of proof, in fact all evidence or statements are of the exact opposite nature. I really don't know what you guys expect out of Torts, he screwed up in Cagary and other than that people are calling for his head as if this was so completely obvious, but yet everyone involved was so stupid they hired him for 5 years. Good grief, give me a break. The spinning is great on this one.
  17. Not at all. Especially holding onto both of them forever like a deer caught in the headlights. A bold move is when you do something agressive and controversial when it needs to be done. Not when your back is against the wall because you've completely mis-managed resources.
  18. No it doesn't. All MG had to do was add top 6 players. Tortorella can certainly get the job done with the Sedins if he has more than 3 top 6 players to work with. Just like any coach in the league. You mention above that you don't understand how they gid rid of Gillis and not Torts. I don't think you guys get how it works. MG has had 6 years and he was the one that hired Torts, for 5 years. If Torts is so bad MG is responsible for that too. How you guys can blame Torts because his coaching style didn't magically save this group of misfits is beyond me completely. I'm pretty sure Torts is giving it everything he has. Regardless this team needs better players before the coach is thrown under the bus. He may be boring but he's certainly not losing on purpose.
  19. This is spot on. The coach coaches the team and the GM gets him the tools he needs to get the job done.
  20. If you think Torts was the problem and this team has plenty of talent you know nothing about hockey.
  21. Finally that idiot got what he deserved after making no intelligent moves in the past 3 years. Now we can finally get a GM that prefers the best talented players he can find as compared to third line scrubs.
  22. I agree 100% that the Sedin's are too slow to ask them to skate hard. They just don't play that way. It's a shame no one took this into consideration when Torts was hired. I agree with the AV comment but one thing I think most people are forgetting is that AV had 6 years and grew with the team in order to get that much out of them. If Torts had 6 years with these guys I definitely think he'd be getting better results. I love the attitude but I reluctantly agree that the team doesn't match the coach. I just think Torts is the last guy that deserves blame for it. Like I mentioned earlier at some point it's not like he came in with a game plan to competely destory the team. Management looks pretty dumb on this one. I'm also in the boat that this team has seriously been declining for 3 years now. It's unfortunate that they threw a new coach into the fire just as the wheels were coming off. Yeah, some serious flaws showing there. For what it's worth I think there was serious miscommunication between MG and AV also. It's like they never talk or plan together. For instance last year, we were depleted all year, especially at center so MG goes out and gets Roy at the deadline. AV proceeds to play him on the wing all playoffs. Also both coaches having to resort to playing Hansen on the first and second line is a joke as well. Like what the heck is that?
  23. Yeah I realized I kind of missed the point. I do agree that perhaps players aren't being put into postions of strength. However, after everything that's transgressed, how we get here today and blame Torts doesn't make sense. It's not like he changed his style or anything. Didn't he say from day 1 that everyone is a shot blocker? It seemed to me that when Torts got here he didn't know the team at all being on the other side of the country, he said so himself. I think he expected us to be a really good team and was shocked to find out how lacking we were. I expect that if any player on the ice is inbetween the shooter and net in a dangerous postion they should block the shot. I really believe with better players we'll see all these excuses dissapear. Kassian and Tanev will cost us probably at least $4m maybe $5m. I guess MG may be able to squeeze one UFA forward (I hope) for $5m and another MG grinder (because he needs to sign at least one). Also Markstrom is up I think he needs a new contract or we need to sign a back up either way.
  24. So you don't want hockey players blocking shots? It's not like there is a postion shot-blocker and Torts keeps playing the Sedins there instead of Higgins. You're an NHL player and your too much of a feline to block shots? Well that tells me a lot about this group if that's the case. When the hell did we become so weak? We'd be the only team where certain players are granted non shot-blocking status. This is pro hockey, not tiddily winks. It sounds so funny. I don't think I've ever seen a NHL team where their downfall is blocking shots. If that's the case we might as well give up now.
