Well we've been searching for a winger to play with Kesler since 2008, its nearing 6 years later and were still looking for one. What kind of GM is he then if he cant even make a risky deal to get that top 6 forward. Ottawa lost Alfredson this summer and their GM was proactive and immediately traded for Bobby Ryan who was available all summer. He gave up Silferberg + Noesen and their 2014 1st round pick. MG did not even attempt to trade for a top 6 this off-season, no rumours or report that we even looked to get one.

Then Gillis went on a plug shopping spree signing Duco, Pinozotto, Mancari and that other ex Florida dude. What a joke...

It went all downhill when MG refused to give Torres a 700k increase and an extra year. We had one of the best 4th line in the league with Torres back there and not to mention his chemisty with Lappiere.

Gillis cant even trade overpaid overrated 3rd liners like Higgins and Booth.....because he handed out NTC's like they were going out of style! Higgins has 3 more friggin years and he's already declining. Booth is a glorified Steve Bernier with hands of stone. Ryan was available this summer and we didn't even kick the tires on that. This teams failure to generate offence is all on Gillis.

Tippett is a great defensive and tactical coach, something we bitched about AV being outcoached at. He is #1 in my list. I Looking at the Coyotes defence, its amazing how he made them play better than they are. I think it's safe to say our top 6 defence is better than Phoenix's so its exciting to imagine what he could do with our defence. We could finally see Edler play to his full potential and what better coach for Corrado and Tanev to improve their game? we've seen what he did with OEL. CS will be a Vezina candidate for sure and with our defensive game improved we will see more time in the offensive zones. Our offence will still be there aslong as Kesler, Burrows and the Sedins stay healthy.

Dissapointing main event....the whole fight was basically GSP trying to rape Diaz for 5 rounds. For a fight that had so much hype and bad blood, I expected GSP trying to make a statement and exchange punches with him. Anyone who believes he has a snowballs chance in hell with Silva is gonna be very very dissapointed.

I dont follow the Whitecaps alot, but from the games i've seen, Hassli either has a yellow card or getting a red card for doing something stupid. He seems undisciplined, unpredictable and lazy at times, maybe Rennie is fed up with his antics. Also, wasnt he good friends with Chumiento?? the guy is gone now and so is Le Teux sp? Out with the French and in with the Scots lol.

Time will tell, top 4 dman?? on the Oilers? sure, but he still needs to prove it. Thats why i believe the Canucks would've been a wiser choice so he can ease his way in a to become a top 4 defenceman rather than have top 4 ice time handed to him and not live up to the expectations.

In 2 years we will find out if he's Fabian Brunnstrom or Mat Girardi... I hope by that time we show absolutely no intrest. We still have Connaughton and now an opening for a Suter signing

Honestly, good for him, Im not mad at all. What I dont understand is, people kept saying he was a 'huge' Canucks fan growing up, then signs with the Canucks #2 or 3 rival and possibly help them win another Cup.. People will say the chose Edmonton because its better for his career.. I dont think its a wise choice, he will get exposed in Edmonton with their youth and inexperience when he could be playing and learning from seasoned NHL veterans on the Canucks and grow into a top 4 defenceman he thinks he is. He wanted icetime handed to him, and that goes against the philosophy MG and AV has built this team around. He should have learned from Hodgson, now he's in Buffallo thinking what if. I hope he thinks about this whenever he sees the Canucks on the PP destroying the Oilers.

They looked good! albiet its the first game and we all know what happened last year after we won our home opener I didnt follow any of the off season moves but this Le Toux guy looks really impressive.
