This is baseball, man. You've gotta consider at least eight different kinds of stats / fancy stats before making such a decision. I see where you're coming from. I think a lot of it also has to do with batter's tendencies to hit different types of pitches, where they typically end up, and similarly the tendencies of the defence (pitchers and outfielders). But then again I still feel pretty new to baseball myself; I would indeed defer to Rup for these kinds of takes. That said, yikes guys. I had such high hopes for this team this year. I am pretty well done with this front office, barring some sort of miracle turnaround. -

Truck driver in deadly Humboldt Broncos bus crash granted day parole
Ralph. replied to CBH1926's topic in Off-Topic General
This part right here. Health and safety is huge in other so many industries, it should be the same for trucking. Businesses should face more accountability for their standards, who they are putting on the road, and how prepared they are for it. Emphasis on safety above all else, especially as it isn't only their employees in danger when things go wrong. -

I'm still fairly new to baseball, so I'm glad that's something I've actually picked up on myself (more throwing while moving vs. setting first). Always enjoy your insights in this thread, Rup! -

It has truly baffled me since I started watching him how this kid, who looks like a 13 year old, can hit balls like that. That was epic. F&%$ Boston. Maybe he'll break out after this. No more defensive errors either, Bo! -

Nice knowing you, Stevie Matz. Jays reportedly offered him 3 years, but unsure of the dollar amount. Signed for 4x11 with the Cards. -
[poll] Who should be the Captain of the Vancouver Canucks?
Ralph. replied to Me_'s topic in Canucks Talk
Brad Hunt, of course. Seriously though, stick with Bo. It's his team. Everyone (except management apparently ) knows the meat of the problem is coaching. Make changes there, give the team (the core, anyway) a chance to bounce back as they are, and reevaluate. Give these players a real opportunity to rally back with one another and I think they'll be stronger for it. Miller is not the problem. -
Should make this the literature thread — Recommendations, reviews, news; CDC has some pretty long standing and informative topics, and if there were a lit thread as epic as some of the others on here, it'd probably be my personal favourite. As for the OP: Eyeless in Gaza by Aldous Huxley is one of my all-time favourites. Ape and Essence is a great, shorter read as well.

And that's why, even if you're up by 7, you still go for the slam if it presents itself. -

While we were up watching the game last night my lady and I kept seeing flashes against the west wall of a building next to ours (Collingwood/Joyce area of Van). Minimal rain (came and went a few times, but nothing prolonged) and no thunder; we kept hoping it would come closer as we both love thunderstorms. Also the rain might have helped cool our damn apartment a bit.
