  1. The only team dumb enough to give up a decent draft pick for any of those players are currently holding them under contract.
  2. There is zero chance any of the teams below us would be trading out of the top 2-5 spot in this draft. Part of building a team is through draft, the other part is developing a core. He fits our window perfectly. Not upset about this one bit. Keep everything in perspective. this is a solid return for Bo
  3. Yeah, but really we would be hoping to pick a RHD of Hroneks caliber. and picking up D in the first round is always a gamble (Juoelevi)
  4. Me thinks there might be more to OEL than we know. Perhaps he will not be playing out his entire contract (injury/buyout). Hronek is a solid pick up. And dont fret yet folks, theres still 2 days until TDL. and we still have CAP space!
  5. Agreed, And really if there's any team that can bring in a guy like Miller and not worry about any potential negative attitude disrupting or taking over, its PIT. Pretty sure walking into a room with Crosby, Gino and Letang immediately humbles a guy.
  6. Except that Miller is Miller. Other teams are not blind to the fact that he has only one 99 pt season, and that while he is still putting up good numbers this year, he was moved away from centre because he is already a defensive liability. They also see the attitude issues. I'm just saying, that yes, comparing dollars to points his contract is pretty reasonable. But I think there's a lot more risk to his contract than some realize. Not sure he is the type of player other GM's want to hitch their cart to for 7 years.
  7. The other thing that blows my mind, that many folks cant comprehend is there is a big difference between - What Allvin wants for value - What a team is offering as value - What CDC expects the value should be Even I get caught sometimes expecting higher value than what actually happens, but then I remember that we are one of the worst teams in the league, trying to offload players to some of the best teams in the league, acting like we have the missing piece and our players are the best! If our players were so great, we wouldn't be in the position we're in.
  8. No.... no they aren't Boeser is not a positive asset because he is underperforming on his contract. Especially in the goals department, which is what playoff teams want from him. He is a liability in the neutral and defensive zones. No team sees him as an asset unless we are retaining close to 50% of his contract. Miller could indeed help a team making a playoff run, however his next contract immediately deflates his "asset" qualities. We can't retain, or else we retain for 7 years. Miller last TDL was a huge asset. Miller + contract is debatable, but I assure you other GM's are not willing to pay to acquire his salary cap hit. It's better you accept now that these players are not assets for other teams or else you will be sorely disappointed with any return we get, if indeed they are traded.
  9. Honestly people are overthinking this. If Tree wanted to come back to the NHL, we'd be hearing a lot more buzz on this. More updates etc. All management needs to do is convince Kuz to give him a call and tell him how great things are. We are piling up Russians and it's easy for Tree to see that it would be a completely different experience 2nd time around. All that said, I don't believe he will be back in the NHL.
  10. Didn't we hire AGMs that are specifically good at multitasking
  11. Well then absolutely zero retention on Miller! Also this is the dumbest rule I've ever heard. It makes no sense whatsoever.
  12. They will have more once the 2 players they waived today clear, or potentially get picked up. There's no scenario where we trade with the Pens and don't retain some salary this year, but there lots of trade scenarios that can work here.
  13. Starting to get that impression again. We think we're in on things and then we're not. Feels like we're the 3rd wheel on everything, thinking were involved but continue to get left behind when the deal actually happens.
  14. But.. But.. his tweet says they promised.... and a promise is a promise. If the Canucks and Rangers made a pinky swear then I'd take this to the bank baby. Anybody see any pinky swear tweets?
  15. $3m retention's gotta be worth more than a 5th rounder. When i look at a Kane trade, you have to consider that pushing the trade through is great for both CHI and NY. it's in both their interests to see this trade happen, so Canucks should be ale to squeeze more out of both teams. Example, instead of a 5th rounder from NY, NY gives canucks a 3rd round, and CHI gives NY a 4th round to offset them giving up a 3rd. Thats how I would approach this. Get both teams to share the cost of retention.
  16. I agree he is looking uninterested and unhappy, but I dont agree he will be a 30 goal scorer anymore, no matter where he plays. I just don't think he has it in him to go fast, work hard in the corners, go to the dirty areas etc. It could be injury, or it could be mental. I mean, if he wants out so bad, take a page from the book of Horvat and elevate your own trade value. His play has made him almost impossible to trade.
  17. The plus is that we cleared cap... So I call this a win for Van. I think we're starting to see that management did not like being hamstrung by the cap, and now they value empty cap space more than some realize. Having good prospects and picks means you can make moves. Having CAP space means you can do anything.
  18. I agree that his value is only going down as this continues to drag on... But the reality is that the Yotes still have the upper hand because they don't HAVE to trade him. So they really can be patient. Sooner or later someone will blink first. I'd be disappointed if the nucks don't at least have some medium grade offer in on him, I just don't think the one you proposed is likely. Bone has been rocked a few times and is now injury prone, and hasn't ever stuck at the NHL level. Hogs is barely a B prospect. He still has a lot to prove at the NHL level. That said, only time will tell.
  19. No, Stillman. Was absolute trash early in the season. But then again so was everyone else on D not named Hughes. But it doesn't mean he is only capable of playing like trash. His game was becoming more consistent lately. I think Buffalo just saw a cheap option for depth. They valued his price tag more than probably some of the other players available. I'm personally surprised they gave up Bloom for him, but Bloom really hasn't proven anything, so it could amount to buffalo actually giving up nothing for Stillman. Which is a good deal for them considering what we paid to get him.
  20. Buffalo wanted a bit of depth is all it was. They didn't want to trade with anyone in the east. Most teams in the west are adding, not subtracting. We are one of the 3 or 4 teams actually looking to unload. Stillman can be depth for playoffs easy enough.
  21. He only became a bust the second the trade happened. He was an up and comer for Buffalo, now he's a bust in Vancouver. So weird how that happens lol!
