You can't be serious. Are you seriously asking that? We need to give away at minimum 2 first to move them -

Yup. This is the course I hope we're on. The OEL buyout scares me, but I still think it's the right move. -
Couldn't disagree more r.e. Hroneks age. We are going to need as many good D as we can find. If we're competing in 3-5 years, he is exactly the age we want. He will have been part of the core for 3-5 years. He will be an experienced veteran D man able to help the new young guys. Think Salo and Bieksa in 2011. If we only use the draft to aquire talent, we will never go deep in the playoffs with only 22 year old D. This is a solid move for 3 years from now.

Exactly. Thank you! I feel like sometimes I'm taking crazy pills having to wade through CDC to find people who understand the different scenarios that are all in play at the same time, and understand why deals are being made the way they are. People want picks so we can draft young players... but we literally just picked up Kravstov, Raty and Bloom. All young players that another team used their picks to get. So what is the difference? We are filling up our prospect pool with very young players and we still have a lot of picks. Look what happened with Edmonton when they relied solely on the draft for 10 years to build a team. It took twice as long, and they are still trying to figure it out.

Well... That tweet did come out before the Hronek trade. So if another potential trade fell through, there's a chance those could have been the "irons in the fire" and we could be done. It also came out before PIT made their move for Granlund and used up all their cap. Anyways, I truly hope we have more moves to make, but I encourage all to keep expectations low. -
Well I'm a bit confused. On one hand your on board with the fact that he is a top 4 RHD and understand the move... But on the other hand you take issue with the $4.5m cap hit? Did you expect to have a 4 RHD on a cheaper contract? We were never going to get one for free, so to me at $4.5m that's a lot better cap management than buy a ufa RHD this summer for $7m+. I agree the injury is a bit of a concern. But really we don't need his services right away, so I'm not too worried about it. Really management saw an opportunity to grad a 4 RHD, probably the first realistic opportunity they've had since taking over, and they pulled the trigger I think this is a solid move.

I fell like I'm losing it here and need to take a break. Boeser or Garland WILL NOT get us anywhere near a 1st. We will be giving up picks just to move them. No one wants them. They are not valuable. Maybe if they were getting paid $3m a piece, but they're not. Miller WILL NOT get us anywhere near a first. Last year yes, but this year he has a monstrous contract (not a terrible contract) but still huge. We are asking teams to do us a favour if they take him. Seriously people need to stop thinking our players performing below their pay, on a bottom dwelling team are somehow valuable to playoff bound teams.
-
Get him for less? I'm sure if they offered a 2nd for Boeser we would have taken it and run. Sorry man, Boes hasn't proven anything because his play is trending downward. And in fact he is struggling to even play a complete game. As much as people love to overvalue our own players, your way off base. I promise you, if/when Boes gets traded, we are either retaining salary, or adding a pick, and will be taking back a lesser player.
-
I've watched both players play a lot. If you remove Boesers first year then that stats are way different. Also Granlund has sustained his points pace over twice as many games, while never being gifted top line minutes. Honestly, Boeser is playing terrible this year. He has been gifted minutes he hasn't earned (example removing Kuz from PP1 in place of Boes). Granlund is a much more complete player and is way more desirable for a playoff bound team, as evidenced by the trade. If you asked PIT to give up a second for Boes they would laugh and hang up the phone. Boes doesn't have value. I'm sorry he just doesn't. This team plus his agent have been trying to move him all year.

It's time to let go man...it's ok... Just let it go... -
Well.. it does help when you have what other teams want. When you have players playing above their contracts other teams want them. Canucks have lots of players playing well below their pay. We are literally one of the worst teams, trying to convince better teams that Boeser and Granlund are the missing pieces to cup success. We are the league equivalent to slimy used car salesmen.

Everyones like "about the same as what we have for Hronek" lol. Except they added another 2nd, (and we all know how people freak out about the value of adding a 2nd)... And there's a lot of conditions attached that if it happens, would completely screw the Sens. The two players are totally different. I'd be more concerned with Chychrun injury history, and he is a RHD. Seems some folks just need to make up their own lies and then complain about them. Lol
