  1. I'm in complete agreement. The only tough part is that Schenn does have value at the TDL and could net a higher return than expected. Really tough call on what to do. There are benefits to keeping him and benefits to moving him. But my vote is to keep him, sign him for 2 years and give him the C. UNLESS some a playoff bound team does something crazy desperate like offers a late 1st for him. But very very unlikely
  2. This is going to be a major issue if management doesn't move Miller. There's no way a guy like Miller will follow Petey and give him the full respect and support he would need. Miller has just too much ego and emotion. Really hoping we can find a way to move Miller at this TDL.
  3. This is exactly why you don't give him the "C" for another year or so. It's not like he doesnt deserve it, or he wont be a good leader, its that he isn't ready yet. He needs more time in the league. He needs to experience these ups and downs a few times to learn how to rebound on his own before he is responsible for leading other guys through it. You know what inspires followers? Experience. Petey just needs a bit more experience. If Schenn is still here to start next year, he's got to be the "C". Teach the fellas all about team play, pack mentality, push back, inspiration on and off the ice. Then he can pass the torch to Petey.
  4. I don't know for sure that they are going to spend. This management does seem very patient, and I think they are learning this year exactly how valuable having CAP space can be mid season. Since theres always big risk in signing long term UFAs, I'd rather see them ice a much weaker lineup, but be sitting on some dollars that positions them to steal a trade talent wise, by using some cap.
  5. I know he isn't that old, but I do think his game will drop off pretty quickly. And despite his obvious physical upside I just don't think it will be enough to offset his lack of speed. Would love to move him for a 2nd then try and resign him in the summer!
  6. I always go back to a nasty hit on Hoglander last year. Where he got rocked, and Horvat was the closest player to it, and he literally turned his back to it and skated to the bench. Then this year, Garland takes a heavy glove to the face, Horvat is right there, does absolutely nothing. There are actually lots of these examples over the years of Horvat ignoring and not having his teammates backs. I've played on a lot of teams, and if my captain ever left me hung out to dry like that he would have gotten an earful in the locker room. These things erode trust, and erode the foundation real teams are built on This is the culture that needs changing. I'm very happy there's at least an opportunity now to see change happen.
  7. And not just in the NHL. I have had some terrible refs in my time playing, and never did it stop me or any other teammate from playing physical. I don't think an NHL player will use this excuse.... Although it is odd that Myers' last real hit was when he obliterated Duncan Keith... But that was game one of the season in 2021.
  8. I personally think Bo moving on is best for the team. I was glad that we couldn't afford him. I really like him, but I want to see different leadership and a different swagger to this team. There was just no way to move forward by keeping Bo In my opinion of course.
  9. The thing about Schenn vs a pick, is guaranteed Schenn has max 2 years left in this league. And maybe only 3 months left in Van if we don't resign him. So odds are still good that a 2ns round pick has a better chance of paying off for the Canucks long term, than Schenn does. That said I do love Schenn. It's just we have to sell high if we have the chance
  10. Don't think Anyone is saying that. More like "hit the friggin net with that shot." Definitely should move him to the point so he can lob bombs in ala Sami Salo
  11. Except who knew that asking NHL players to hit 8ft tall surfboards would be even harder than baby targets. Was painful to watch.
  12. Gotcha. It makes complete sense for him to wear the Isles jersey because that's his team, I just wasn't up to speed
  13. Weird. I guess I missed something. I thought Horvat had said he was going to wear a Canucks jersey this weekend but hes in an Isles jersey.
  14. They need to hire a real stand up comedian if they want commentators to make jokes. PK, you're not funny, none of this is funny. It's not even fun. No wonder players hate this weekend. David Amber " Crosby, how did it feel falling into the water?" Crosby "it was wet" Amber "Haa ha ha great stuff, back to you PK"
  15. Pretty bad when the commercial breaks are the highlight of the night. A welcome break from this absolute sleeper.
  16. No, by definition it's only gay if you take care of someone else's body of the same sex. Wuw wah
  17. Apparently it means a professional hockey player who goes to see a professionally trained massage therapist along with their wife, in order to give their body and marital relationship some much needed rest and relaxation.
  18. If Tree had issues in Vancouver with language and what is now legal drug use, good luck making a happy family in Chicago, Detroit, St Louis, New York, Toronto Seattle LA I mean maybe his stance on the world is a little more mature, but life ain't easy, even for hockey players. Vancouver was probably one of the easiest places to start off in. Not gonna find much easier. Side note, Calgary probably drooling right now. Getting ready to blow the Vancouver dust off of him and start wine and dining.
  19. But if we were to retain say 1.5m on his contract his value all of a sudden goes way up. Boes at $5m for 2 more years plus Schenn at minimum is a very enticing package to a playoff bound team. I don't know, just spitballing. I don't think we get anything of value in a trade for Boes unless we add something considerable or we retain lots of salary.
  20. Jeeze man.. I'm all for calling people out for stupid stuff... But this is just ridiculous. Nothing wrong with getting a massage once in a while. Especially if your a pro athlete whose paycheck depends on your bodies performance day in and day out. It's not like he was in there getting his hole bleached. Relax
  21. This. Good player, good guy, Good captain off the ice in the community, not a good captain on the ice in a leadership role. Team culture, toughness, pushback and "brotherhood" so to speak was nonexistent during his tenure. New management came in, took the emotion out of it and saw this right away.
  22. Good point, I didn't actually look to see what picks Boston has in stock. Without a 2nd there might not be an easy trade for Schenn on his own. Maybe add Boes into the mix for a package deal starts to make sense for both teams..
  23. I agree with everything you said.... even though I wish it wasnt true.
  24. Meh, good player for $5.5m... sure. But $8m for 7 years? That contract makes him not so good, and one hell of a risk over two different competing windows. I'm so nervous about miller that I'd be willing to trade him for futures if a team was willing to take on that contract. He showed a lot of people that there are a lot more to a player than just points. A good player can still have negatives that force folks to reevaluate.
  25. Sure. Although for all the times we wish a player gets traded as a rental and comes back to their team, I can't think of a time this has actually happened. I know it has, as someone pointed out a few examples once, but in reality it almost never happens. Teams typically overpay their rental in order to keep them from walking
