I personally don't think he is a top 3 goalie in the league despite playing his mind out this season.

KHL is willing to give out contracts, however our NHL season next year is uncertain at the moment, so there is no point adding any more players, and he be left in limbo so I understand Tryamkins point too.

I'm one of the 82% that voted of liking his takes and one of the one the guys that voted he was a good gm.
His takes I like because he speaks it as it is, as a former GM. It nice to see what GM's think of certain prospects and how things are in general. His opinion is the opinion of a GM in his case a former GM but none the less, he's been in this business for a very long time. So I like it. Do we have to agree with him? of course not, but that's just his opinon as a GM.
Was he a good gm here? yes he was. the record speaks for itself. He dumped bad contracts, stabilized the team and got it better. He is hard nosed and arrogant as hell probably why he's not hired as a GM or an executive role at this point. Turning point trades in my opinion was turning Bure and Mogilny into Jovonovski and Morrison who were also core parts of the team back in that Canuck Era. Jovo played an important part in our blue line, and Morrison was the place holder until the Sedins were ready. Lets not even forget getting both twins, he made some bad moves too like selling too many 2nd round picks and having too much trust in Dan Cloutier.
His draft record was ok, it did consist of both Sedins, Jarko Rutuu was a good pesky player, Artem Chubarov was good but he bailed quickly. Under him, the best players we drafted were the Sedins, Bieksa and Ryan Kesler, also key guys for our team in the late 2000's early 2010's. R.J Umberger was also a solid draft pick up but Burke pissed him away. Bryan Allen was not the best pick at 4th, Nathan Smith at 23 when Brad Boyes and Steve Ott was still available was another horrible choice.
overall a good gm.

absolutely not. No Scouting director has "Autonomy" over their bosses. None whatsoever. I also operate a printing company that grosses over 7 digits per year, no one has full autonomy.
anyways Never happened in any sports. He also wasn't a part time with us, he was head of Amateur scouting for the Vancouver Canucks. Add to the fact Jim Benning came to an agreement with him for a 2 year extention but he wanted full autonomy over Jim Benning? wtf man, I am not a Benning fan even I thought that was pushing it. That means Benning has no say at the draft? wtf.
anyways, Bracket is a product of Jim Benning. Not the other way around. Jim Benning implemented a new scouting style to our team, and that was all.
He will be replaced and move on. If not JB gets canned.

this is the case for all prospects right now since the AHL, CHL might not start up. this is why he should sign a contract with us right away to insure his professional status as a NHL player. He can also go back to school and be under contract with us.

Mike Gillis acquired Ballard first before we got our hands on Hamhius as a UFA.
We shipped out Michael Grabner and a 1st rounder in 2010 for Ballard, at the time a 28 year old. He's played 5 full seasons including 4 straight 82 game seasons prior to joining us. He was literally a top pairing dman his entire career at that point, however it would be top pairining dman on struggling team. He has speed, physical play and known as an offensive dman, despite being on the short side as a dman.
This was a damn good trade since Ballard also came with a 4 year contract and at 4.1 million per year.
Mike Gillis knew we were close to being a cup contender and adding a top 3 dman to our team will really help. we were uncertain at this point if Hamhius was even available at this point.
It's just too bad for whatever reason A.V didn't like him.

I've heard this rumor too, that a certain prospects addiction to video games might jeopardize his career, although still no actual evidence, this rumor literally points to Jakub Zboril, one of the Bruins first round picks in 2015, who is a known player that a "huge fan" of world of warcraft.

who cares if he likes video games. A lot of prospects will put that down as a hobby, and it's normal for guys his age to enjoy video games. What was he suppose to write down in his draft profile? this. He was also ok playing the bottom pairing and not play high minutes as long as the team was winning. Dude also have good hockey iq, and puck possession game. It's unfortunate that this type of player for whatever reason A.V doesn't like, right now Shayne Gostisbehere seems to be the latest victim.

more agile more offensive, equally as physical, as Aaron Rome. He's just one of those pretty damn good players who never really got a long with A.V. That was all unfortunately.

Senators, since in 11 months he would have been a UFA anyways. It was Salvaged by making a trade for a bottom 6 but NHL foward, a bottom pairing but NHL capable dman, a AHL sniper, a 1st rounder from 2017(Josh Norris) a 2nd round pick and a 1st round pick, you can choose that or get nothing. Senators would have also gotten a lot less if they waited until trade deadline or even get nothing in return like what Islanders got for Tavares. What makes it a bigger win is the pick being a top 3 pick, my gosh.

Outcome 1
if season is cancelled we surrender the 17th pick to the New Jersey Devils. I am ok with this outcome, since we don't have to worry about next years pick being high if all else fails.
Outcome2
If we lose to the Wild, we have a 12.5% chance at winning the lottery. If we lose, we draft anywhere from 9th to 14th if I am not mistaken with the odds of us drafting. However with this outcome, it means next years pick has to go to New Jersey no matter what happens, so its a failure is not an option scenario..
Outcome3
If season continues, we beat the Wild we end up in the playoffs and we surrender the pick, this then reverts back to outcome 3, however this can be a huge stepping stone for our young guys, as they had a taste of playoff action against Minnesota and Colorado at this point. For the players itself this experience is priceless.
conclusion.
This is a no brainer, if we look long run, outcome 2 with us winning the lottery is probably the best outcome, to happen, which requires use to lose to Minnesota and jump, and a 1 in 8 chance at a franchise alternating player.
Whats at stake?
Alexis Lafreniere is a Left Winger from the QMJHL he will be the best CHL player since Connor Mcdavid.
Laf has 112 points in 52 games,
Connor had 120 in 47
Connor also had Alex DeBrincat and Strome on his team. Other high end prospects.
Laff doesnt.
Outcome 2 is the long shot, but I think Outcome 3 is probably what's best for the team with expierence points from playoff and giving up a later pick to New Jersey.

where the hell would you put him? Hes a fit on No Canuck line. Canucks have better options already.
Canucks only need playoff beast style players.
My Issue with him is more of his characteristics and attitude. Throwing his silver medal into the crowd? like cmon man, you win and lose it's part of the game, and players can grow and mature with that experience. Left the Hardford wolfpack? What does Anderson want? a free ride to the NHL? If he's not good enough for the AHL he is surely not good enough for the NHL. this is immaturity at it's finest and you wonder why he's not traded? teams are not interested in a player like this in their locker room. There is no entitlement. If he's a NHL player he needs to prove it.
I will kindly pass, and focus on our younger guys that are willing to work hard to the NHL career. (Hoglander, and Podkolzin after next season)
