But who gets to quantify who is a good scout VS a bad one? All we hear are the media's leaked version of things. Based on benning's work post linden, things are trending in a good direction. In fact, I'd say there needs to be two assessments of benning, with linden and without linden.

the gm does it when he hires the individual.

  2. no team will be giving him Autonmy. not to mention Judd Brackets scouting style changed because of what Jim Benning told his scouts to look for, so no, Bracket wasn't a guy that was born with the scouting talents, he was actually lead by Jim Benning and in fact he should be grateful and shouldn't be asking for Autonomy

that being said best of luck Judd.

I wonder who gets a shot at the NHL first -- Will Lockwood or Oli Juolevi? Both are from the same draft class, last two guys standing from that draft class in this organization. My money is on Lockwood.

whoever is more NHL ready will be the first.  Lets not forget Lockwood has his fair share of injuries although he is a safer bet since his floor is higher, and can fit into a bottom 6 role because of his speed and grit.

Bergeron is a class act.  Rask is fine, Chara as well.

Dr. Mark Recchi...he was a dick to us, but in general the guy needs to be respected.  I think his career was considered over and he was considered washed up more times than Gary Roberts, and he just kept coming back and winning Cups.  And getting Lady Byng votes as well.  If he hadn't been a prick to my preferred team, I doubt I would have anything critical to say about him really.  Plus the guy studied medicine at Harvard, and you have to respect that.

    &^@# him.

  6. immature comments from Lucic.  I'm also a guy that doesn't like Kesler.    You guys (Bruins) won the cup and he still says  $%& him?  out right unprofessional as he is still a NHL player today. Show some class Milan, now you know why people in  Vancouver hate your ass? we dodged a bullet not getting this guy.

    The top ten fallers list

    at #7

    7. OLLI JUOLEVI, D, VANCOUVER CANUCKS (-35)
    Last year: 66th
This year: not ranked in top 100.

Juolevi actually ranked sixth on this list last year, when he’d tumbled from 21st to 66th, and now he’s dropped right out of the top 100, which is disheartening to say the least given the Canucks used 2016’s fifth-overall pick on him. This season, the news isn’t all bad, however. Despite the slide in the ranks, he’s finally been relatively healthy, shaking off a bout of hip soreness and getting 45 games in with AHL Utica, during which he’s been used in all situations. So while the ranking suggests he’s slipping, Juolevi has actually experienced a positive year developmentally simply by staying on the ice and getting his reps in an important role. He turns 22 in May. Plenty of great NHL defensemen have debuted older than that. So we may see Juolevi get there at some point.

same publication source that had Casey Mittlestadt ahead of Elias Pettersson.

Why should Canadians be worried about martial law?  You are not American!  Polite and obedient, whereas Americans are very rebellious.

I'm seeing this unfold as a person living in Asia right now and how Canada is handling this is outright a joke.  Pierre Truedeau let his people down! some sort of martial law is needed because some people don't frickin listen! Students in the USA plan to celebrate spring break, meanwhile beachs in Australia is packed with people.

  9. Hughes is playing a bigger role, playing better defensively, and on a weaker team, while being one full year younger.

Makar is ripping it up on a stacked team.  Defensively he has more issues, but his 50 points in 53 games over hughes 53 points in 68 games, stats scouts will jump onto that without probably ever seeing both play. Hughes play a better rounded defensive game at this point and have already been playing shut down minutes.

Hughes for me, but I don't really give a damn anymore.

  10. call me a stat scout but he's not even a point per game...

anyways free prospect is a free prospect.

the pros of going to Vancouver is that it's a top notch city and a team on the rise.

the cons of Vancouver is that we are also loaded with prospects so he will be phased into our system like any other prospect.

the pros of detroit is that they can leverage saying they are a weaker team and he can be given ice time.

the cons of detroit, well its a $&!# hole of a city and a team that might need some time to rebuild before being a competitive team.

We couldn't convince Cagguila to sign here despite Boeser and Stecher here. We couldn't convince Aston-Reese to sign despite Gaudette here. I doubt Rathbone is suddenly that close to Fox after one season together.

Rathbone technically is eligible for two more years of college hockey I believe. However he could hit UFA after next season.

We committed to him when many teams glossed over him for not going to college right away. We have made an effort to draft players with good character. Guys like Gaudette and Lockwood have always said they would sign with the team that believed in them and drafted them. I suspect Rathbone would be of the same mold. We also drafted Aidan McDonagh who apparently was a childhood friend of Rathbone too.

30 other teams also couldn't convince those guys, calm down.  This happens.
