  1. Just watched Olli’s highlights from the past season. Very impressive offensive game.
  2. ...and think of the savings in broken sticks.
  3. The bottom line is: we don’t know. Look at Barzal. His ability to skate and make plays in traffic led to a very succesful campaign. But on the other hand, the Sedins started slow and needed years to develop their game. We just don’t know.... but one thing seems certain, the league has never been so well suited for young, light, fast and skilled players to pay immediate dividends. I’m remaining cautiously optimistic!
  4. I love his game and he would be a lock for years if he generated just a bit more offense.
  5. I had no problem with Sautner against the Ducks. He seemed to be mobile with good size and played with an edge in the corners. I'd like to see more of him next game.
  6. This guy is changing my mind with his effort in the last couple games. I had written him off- but with continued developement he could be a legit top 6.
  7. He's good enough till someone better takes his job.
  8. Alex has been playing great.
  9. Maybe just the fact that he showed tenacity makes me want him around for another year. I agree though, he'd be beat up playing that brand of hockey.
  10. If Daniel decides to bring the physical tenacity the way he did against San Jose on the regular, I got a spot for him next year for sure!
  11. Again, not really predicting that Gudbranson will ever “top 30” or anything to that effect, but pointing out that the current top big (6’5”) D man in the league took until his late 20’s to become what he currently is- a perennial Norris candidate. It may be reasonable to assume that Gudbranson could follow a similar developement curve with regard to his potential.
  12. Just looking at BB88 career stats and not that Guddy is anywhere near Burns but I’m guessing the Wild are regretting giving up on the often injured and somewhat inconsistent 1st round pick after his D+7 . The comparison is that they both have big bodies and have had injury issues early in their carreer. Burns took till he was near 30 to become the stud he currently is.
  13. Increased icetime with better linemates equals improved performance by Jake? Who would have guessed.
  14. Agreed. I remember thinking that this might be his worst showing of the season- but even then, he still has that shot.
  15. Remind me why this guy isn't a top six on this club
  16. Real nice, well rounded game by Virt against Chicago. Hos speed and anticipation were noticable on the defensive end and transfered into some nice chances. This is what it looks like when 18 plays from instinct and doesn’t second guess every play.
  17. Real nice game by Stetch last night. He’s a nice fit with Edler who had a solid effort also. Stetch’s speed with the puck and “transition” are a reason for optimism with this player.
  18. Jake does well when he's dished the puck deep in his zone, with the wheels already going, drives the puck up the boards and through the neutral zone and shoots or distributes. They did this over and over in the 8 shot game he had in D-town. They actually gave him the puck in a position for him to succeed. And as far as the backhand-to-no one goes , how many other players missed assignments on that, quite beautiful, up-ice transition by the opposition? His speed breaks the trap and gains the O-zone. Put him with 53 and 6 and see how it goes.
  19. Maybe Loui is a victim of our lack of Center ice talent? It's obvious that he plays his best with talented Centers. Maybe Loui can be the guy to mentor Petterson into his Center ice role with the Big club. Considering Loi's contract, it's pretty much a lock that he'll have his opportunity.
  20. Boeser appears to be high level in all aspects of the game. He should probably be killing penalties too.
  21. It makes me wonder if we've forgotten what a quality NHL player looks like the last few years around here (apologies to Bo), let alone an all-star MVP.
  22. wow, page 333 in this thread enters on a HIGH note and exits LOW.... ...I love being a Canucks fan.
  23. I've been on the fence for a long time on 23, but if he doesn't start to pass the puck to the 5th leading goalscorer in the NHL on the PP, I'm going to lose it!
  24. I guess I’m still gun shy after all the NTC’s gmmg threw around. Edler could have been capitalized on for a quality pick/asset....
