I loved seeing Kuzmenko celebrate goals knowing it’s his rookie year & really appreciated that ear to ear smile of his. Tocchet seems like a ‘no fun’ coach. Whatever, I guess he’s teaching something, but if the game doesn’t stay enjoyable…. just like with any other job, he’ll diminish the mental health of the players he’s coaching.

They are playing to mentor the baby Canucks. I’m excited for the strides that the baby Canucks are making too. After being eliminated from the play-offs, this is the place where their “mojo” for these away games comes from, in large part no doubt….and a major reason why they decided to bring so many of ‘em over here!

With Kuzy on the bench and off the 1st unit PP, yah, you had trouble generating a little more offense! Coaching to tank here, despite what’s said at the post-game presser. Keep teaching! We understand, that hard tasks make for more challenges to overcome next year or things to achieve this summer. Got it! Wink! -

Remember - so many of our veteran players are on LTIR or shut-down, 1/2 the iced-squad is either an AHL call-up, or was a college kid this year. And Tocchet routinely benches players…just because! They were fine. After their last home game in VAN, ownership, management & this coaching staff is in tank-mode, but still teaching, grit, determination & belief in a system…just against all odds. -
I think without publicly saying it, Tocchet has been setting the line-up that he has to tank the last 3 games. The Canucks players may succeed despite that, by the sheer will of the kids & the efforts of these veteran PROS, but they are NOT being given absolutely everything that they need to succeed immediately, now…(shut-down players & benchings, etc). It’s clearly a time for training these college kids & laying a foundation for next season’s training camp. That’s good & fine & we get it.

The team opposing them has a little something to do with it. For their home games, the Canucks have generally been quite entertaining, and score lots of goals. They also experienced an awful LOT of one goal games this season. Parity is through-out this league. Attitude, persistence, belief & desire have a lot to do with it, too. As do these officiating crews! The NHL has to do much better training & vetting their officials & making sure that the proper technologies used, especially when/where they can make a difference to the accuracy of the calls made upon the ice. With a bolstered defense, more grit, speed, size, familiarity & a more integrated & uniform coaching style….I have the faith that this team will not only BE better - but I feel that they ARE already better even with the AHLers & college kids playing here, in place of all the injured or shut-down veteran players - right now.
