[Report] Maple Leafs name Brad Treliving as GM
canuckwings replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Nothing. They can't prove it anyways. I don't believe for one sec that NHL teams will play by the rules...until they get caught. Flames will do the same if they're in the same situation. At least leafs and flames are not in the same conference. -

Lol Penguins made the Dubas announcement just before Treliving meets the Toronto media. Coincidence? I think not. -
This. I understand the bias on the team you cheer for but we really need to stop overvaluing our players, most frequently seen in trade proposals that makes no sense. Boeser is that one player many Canuck fans have been over-evaluating either to justify keeping him or try to boost his trade value. CDC keeps talking about how he can still be that player in his rookie year and how he's 'still young'. There's a reason why PA hasn't been able to move his contract for some value.

Not even sure why they bothered taking so long with all the interviews. It's clear Brad Treliving is their only choice available right now after firing Dubas without a Plan B. Teams interview Bergervin and Chiarelli just to remind them they can't get another GM job. It's kind of sad lol. -
Hockey is not cruel. It's simply not a fair playing field when an expansion team was gifted all the tools to succeed right from the start. Vegas never had to take bad contracts cause they built their whole team in one draft. Still no idea why they were exempted from Seattle's expansion draft. Vegas never had to draft players through the entry level draft and spend years develop them. How many players on their current roster were drafted by Vegas themselves? Dorofeyev and Hague. They traded all their draft picks/prospects away and use the LTIR loophole to go after every shiny toy out there. To be clear, I'm not discrediting the Vegas players for performing well as a team. I'm just super annoyed that market never had to go through what every other nhl market had to go through. Seattle had to go through a couple of rough years first before making the playoffs which i am fine with. I really hope Florida wins it this year. They're in the same cup drought as Canucks but I would much rather see them win than friggin Vegas.

2023 IIHF World Hockey Championship

So happy for Silovs. I'd be honest I'm a bit more excited for Latvia's bronze win than Canada's gold win . Love it when the underdogs win. -

I'm cheering for Latvia to get bronze. Hoping Silovs will be the hero. It's going to give him so much confidence. -
It sounds like many believe Treliving is the front runner. If he does take the job I feel it's not because he's the most suited for the job, but because he's the best available candidate out there. Just look at the list they're interviewing lol... It'd also be interesting to see if Treliving actually gets to make decisions himself, or be in the same boat as Dubas. If he left Calgary for that same reason I wonder how long he would last.

Love it. So happy we have him in the goalie pipe line.
