  1. Just get a goal every two minutes and we in this
  2. Roster is not good enough. It’s not rocket science. Holes in d, no real 3c, not big / tough / fast enough. If Demko doesn’t give vezina calibre performance they are in tough many nights. JB’s legacy in full display here.
  3. Imho the problems mostly start at the back. Outside of OEL and Hughes they generate 0 and are a tire fire in our end.
  4. The 40 yr old sedins can probably gain the zone easier than this
  5. I too think one or two "core" players need to be traded. Its the easiest long term solution to fix issues. If they want to draft their way to improving Im afraid we are going to be waiting for another 5 years. IMHO the first guy that needs to go is Miller. Hes our best overall player and the return could patch up the holes on this team for years. Trading him can alter the course of this franchise for years - Look at what trading Linden turned into...the ramifications are still felt today. Miller at his age and projected salary just doesnt fit. I like Garland. Im not sold on him yet. Garland gives me Cliffy Ronning vibes, the difference was Cliffy played on a team with some absolute monsters - lots of big forwards and D men which allowed the team to have a nsmaller guy like Cliff. This team has EP/Hogz/Hughes....can another sub 5 foot 10 guy form a core that go a long way? Im not sure. But I agree with you the D core needs improving. Demko is putting lipstick on a pig right now...
  6. Heres a question for those of you that want to move on from Brock. Where will you get those 20-30 goals from each year? UFA will cost you at least 6 million you would think. Internally? Do you really see Hogz or Klimovich as long term solutions? I think if they move on from him they need to get a D man in return, thats the priority. But that leaves a big hole on RW.
  7. Yes his injuries concern me. I think hes not 100 percent this year. They have deployed him in front of the net again on the PP - to me that shows he cant get his grade A shot off ...probably a wrist issue. I dont disagree with you completely. If he wants 7.5 for extended contract they should move on from him.
  8. I think last year was his best year....hes gonna start rolling again this year just like before he sat out with covid ....but im just guessing now I admit.
  9. Regarding foot speed. I think all our top players have a flaw. QH and EP are slight/smaller players. BB is slower than you would like a top line forward to be. I think these guys make up for their flaws in other ways. EP for instance was the target of every top defence pair and top checker in the bubble playoffs. He was knocked around but was able to succeed with at least a PPG if im not mistaken. QH uses his body to gain position, that and his sublime skating ability. Brock - if foot speed was that much of an issue how has he managed to score like.38 goals per game over several years now? He knows how to get open, and he reads the play extremely well. Im not buying that the game has changed to speed speed and more speed. Its been like that for a long time now and hes already shown he can operate in that environment.
  10. Why not? At the same age hes accomplished more than those guys. Im just putting his age and accomplishments in perspective. At the same age the Sedins were almost run out of town by the fans and the media. At the same age Naslund was flogged to death on radio call in shows and on internet forums (yes they did exist in the 90s). Nowhere did I say that BB would follow a similar trajectory into his 30s as those guys.
  11. The player you are describing barely exists - yet you are holding that up as a standard for Brock. You want a consistent 30 goal scorer than can drop the gloves when necessary, throws his weight around, and can drive the bus on his line. How many players like that are currently in the NHL? Less than 10 im thinking? And that might be generous. Its gonna cost way more than 7 million for a player like that. I dont buy the argument that hes too slow to get open and to be a consistent 30 goal scorer. The proof is in the pudding....hes a .38 goals per game over his career. Even this down year he is having hes on a 30 goal pace under Bruce. The reason he is not a consistent 30 goal scorer is due to injury and perhaps durability. He sees the ice better than anyone not named EP and Hughes on the team...and maybe Miller. But speaking of Miller, the guy was inconsistent, was known for several brain farts in his ealry 20s. I read blog posts from NY ranger fans how he was invisible most nights. At around Brock's age he showed little for anyone to think he would turn out like he has now. And lets go further back in time. At 24 years old Markus Naslund put up 34 points in his 3rd year with the Canucks. Same arguments heard....soft, invisible, inconsistent. The Sedins...up to around 24 years old they were basically 30-40 point guys. Same arguments. Slow, soft, invisible. Not saying BB will follow a similar trajectory and become league dominant like those guys, but at the same age hes accomplished more than most of the great players in this teams history at a similar age. Do I think hes worth 7.5 per year...prob not....this is because i have my doubts about what affect the injuries have had on him. But lets not make his guy out to be a modern version of Chris Kontos.
  12. I don’t disagree. I’m not totally convinced he’s worth 7.5 either. I still have doubts whether he has fully recovered from his injuries. Notice how they have planted him in front of the net again on the PP- an indicator his grade A shot is not working perhaps to bad wrist? But I think that he’s a reasonable kid who wants to be here and I wouldn’t be surprised if he signs multi year deal averaging around 6.5 This is part wishful thinking of course. But I do scratch my head when I see him offered up in trades over the years for guys like Jake debrusk and Pavel Zacha.
  13. This is a good point. Corey brought it up too. I was counting since 2017 when he only played a few games.
  14. What I see with Miller now is an opportunity and a lesson from the past. If you could go back in time as the GM would you trade Tanev at his peak, Markstrom at good peak? I would. Just like the Flames should have traded iginla a couple seasons earlier. Miller presents that opportunity now. He will be into his thirties I think before the team is legit. And that’s if everything goes well….
  15. Sheesh he’s minus 5 … like that can’t be corrected in a game or two. I see a lot of complaints about the lack of toughness.. but other than two guys this whole team is butter soft, including the captain. Have you seen EP fall over at his own shadow lately? Boeser has the most goals since Bruce took over. https://twitter.com/patersonjeff/status/1494705628459065347?s=20&t=Ahz9VR4B-h6loQ488D6mog In the whole 50 + year history of this team very few players the Canucks have drafted have out produced him at the same age. I’ll take that over a guy who can take punches to the face every day of the week. Is he tradable … of course he is. I don’t think he’s worth a long term contract with an average per year of what his QO is worth , but at the same time he is so underrated by some of you guys.
  16. Gallagher and Toffoli have played like 60-80 more games ( I’m too lazy to subtract for the exact number.. I’m old and useless on these phones going back and forth between web pages lol ) than Brock and are a few goals ahead they are prob legit second liners .. I think BB is a first line RW just from his g/pg p/pg.. we can’t let his injuries cloud what he actually does when he’s on the ice. Regarding what happens at trade deadline .. I think we may be surprised who goes. Imho Miller should be the odd man out but who knows ..
  17. He’s top 15 rw for goal scoring. Top 20 points for RW .. with a lot less games played than most ahead of him. I’ll leave it up to you to explain how that is not very good production and how that’s not legit top line RW material. regarding pay.. I’m thinking his contract if he stays will average around 6.5 … this so so season will work against him and my gut feeling is that he wants to stay here. All speculation of course.
  18. Totally! The stats show the kid is a legit first line rw.. 15th in RW goal scoring with a lot less games played than many of those ahead of him… yet he is no good at scoring??? It’s shameful that some want to trade him for NJs version of Steve Bernier. He’s having a so so season so far ( even though he’s scored the most goals since Bruce Took over) yet the knives are out.
  19. He’s a top 15 right wing since entering the league no matter how you try and minimize it. That’s with all the injuries too. If you go goals per game he’s much higher than 75 for all forward positions. You can argue that he might not be durable or that he may be injury prone but to argue he doesn’t produce at a high rate compared to his peers is absurd.
  20. Since entering the league Brock Boeser is #15 in Goal scoring for Right Wingers. He has played many less games than a lot of the guys ahead of him. You explain how being 15th overall in goal scoring for his position is “not good”. This is not Cherry picking two seasons this is since 2016-2017. He’s played like 60-80 games less than guys like Marner and Nylander who are only a few goals ahead of him. Yeah not a good goal scorer https://www.nhl.com/stats/skaters?reportType=season&seasonFrom=20162017&seasonTo=20212022&gameType=2&position=R&filter=gamesPlayed,gte,1&sort=goals&page=0&pageSize=50
