This is the team I hate losing to the most. Hopefully I won’t have to drink too much!

Would like to hear your reasoning for this. Love the kid, but look at his DB for instance. Has never scored more than 14 goals at any level. Has a good motor but was never known as a scorer coming up through the ranks. On pace for like 30 points this year. Last year looks more like an outlier. I mean if we are being critical of everyone else incluing the captain and guys that have been calder candidates why should this guy be absolved from criticism. Can this team have a bunch of smallish guys in key positions.

Why would Arizona give this guy up? Isn’t he a player they should build around? It’s not like they can’t afford him in the future.

Its interesting seeing that some of our forwards have been put under the microscope when IMHO the biggest problem is the atrocious D core whose incompetence is masked by the vezina calibre performances of demko. If Demko is average the team gets lit up for 5 and 6 goals before the second intermission. Horvat is a respected player who has generally been on an uptrend in his first 5 or 6 years. He is having a so so season and its unfortunate that the knives are out. Look at Calgary last year, JG , Tkachuk, Lindholm all with down years...this year they are tearing it up. The lesson is you dont give up on good players because of one year. So back to this D. Isnt this one of the highest paid Ds in the NHL? Outside of Hughes, and maybe OEL...what do they do particularly well? Last night I witnessed lots of plays that died because the D couldnt hold the line, couldnt make a pass that wasnt in a players skates, couldnt hit the net, couldnt make an outlet pass, couldnt block a pass. Our PK is awful....the D is a big part of that. Outside of Hughes and OEL lately, they barely generate anything in terms of offence. If we do trade forwards my hope is they address the issues on the back end...trading a forward for another forward or a draft pick that might pan out in 3 years doesnt help.
