You can't use forecheck or grind in the same sentence as Eriksson. He had 3 hits last year, he doesn't grind anything but his morning coffee and probably needs his wife to do that for him. Still wouldn't trade him for Lucic though.

After listening to Benning discuss this trade I have to say I'm quite concerned about the development in Utica. Benning described the game they are trying to develop as essentially a grinders game, hard on the puck, chasing down low is what I recall him saying. That's great for guys like MacEwen but trying to turn a skill guy into a grinder isn't development, it's counterintuitive and pretty disturbing. It also sheds some light on why the Comets haven't been producing NHL players at all. Gaunce isn't an example I'd use, there hasn't been a NHL player of any real impact from that team at all.

That is what I would prefer to see. These kids should be able to sign a contract & remain in college, it benefits the teams and the players. If not that then the QO mentioned above is what I was thinking. Basically want them to make it difficult for college kids to leave the drafting team hanging.

It's the same risk associated with Russians. You can't be sure either will play for the team that drafted them or go their own way, hence the question I posed and the statement I made about closing the loophole in the next CBA. My statement was not panic and doom & gloom. It's a very real possibility that either or both can be convinced to play else where. Demko may be convinced to sign in Anaheim, San Jose, LA. As a free agent he'd be free to do so. Brock might feel the need to stay close to home. Minny is a good team. Maybe he likes the idea of playing for New York, Florida, hell, he could wind up in a storied franchise like Montreal if he wants to. Who are you to say neither is thinking that controlling their own destiny while completing their college education isn't looking real good? If I could choose any franchise to play for it wouldn't be one of the worst teams I'm the league. I'd be checking Chicago, LA, Anaheim & Washington before I'd be checking Vancouver out. I'd be looking to play with greats like Ovechkin, Crosby, Malkin, before I'd be looking for the Sedins. There are tons of reasons for them both to choose free agency. What are the reasons for them to choose Vancouver?

There is a reason he was available so late in the draft. Talented kid but college kids are getting the same rep as Russians. Should you waste a pick on them or just try to get them via free agency? Next CBA needs to close that loophole so we don't see teams losing their draftees to other teams. I'm concernedthat both Brock & Thatcher are going to take that path. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Don't know the draft rules well. Are we guaranteed 6th? We won't move down or up? Not sure how much movement is possible. Anyone know where I can find a good breakdown? On a side note, finish the season with a whimper boys, every loss is a step closer to seeing Tort's exit.

Hate to see the boys lose, but hate it even more when my team wins the mean nothing games. I want to see a good, hard fought loss boys. I want a good draft pick to either scoop up a top end prospect or to dangle in a trade along with other pieces for an established young gun.

I'm going to miss Luongo. He's a class act. Obviously had a big effect on Schneids and Lack. Both seem to love the guy. The return for this trade sucked, in that when you are a team that can't score at all, getting a bad goalie prospect back instead of a decent forward prospect is a killer. We did NOT need yet another third line center..we have plenty of those. Looking forward to three things: 1. Gillis getting fired 2. Torts getting fired 3. Oldnews finally shutting up Sadly, two of these aren't likely to happen anytime soon.
