without ww2 there is a good possibility that flying boats would have a much larger presence. The war made it necessary to build more land strips, at a large cost, that peace time may not be able to afford.
I don't know if Pacific Coastal at Port Hardy still have the 3 goose operating but over the years i had numerous flights with them, love those planes Haven't been up that way in 10 years or so.
