      Astrophysics. His dad was an electrical engineer. He and his dad built his guitar when he was 16. He uses sixpence for guitar picks because he feels it gives him more control when playing.

       

      He has done thesis on cosmic dust. He has an asteroid 52665 Brianmay named after him. 

      He says he'd rather be remembered for his animal rights work, than his music or science.

      While Queen is one of my favorite bands I had the displeasure of seeing Brian May open for Guns N Roses at BC Place back in the day.  It was a dreadful performance almost as bad as a Nickleback show.  He has some of the coolest guitar riffs when he played with Queen but his solo live shows sucked.
