Thought it’d be better for him to play in junior this year. Unless they know for sure he’ll be getting top 6 minutes and top PP time. I didn’t think he’d beat out the top 4 wingers we had in Abbotsford so I was all for sending him down. Getting scratched multiple games isn’t good for a 19 year old kids development. Hopefully they get him back in the lineup soon.

They couldn't send him to the Q - Belarussian federation would not release his transfer list for the major junior league in North America.

Considering how Russians develop players, it would be really unlikely that he would get much playing time there. He's better off here, learning English and learning a 2 way game. Remember how frustrated everyone was last year, with how little playing time Podkolzin was getting?

He's 18 years old and he's playing in a professional league. That is a HUGE win for us as an organization. Him sitting and watching for a game or two and gaining perspective, is NOT a bad thing.

I agree on Podkolzin, but it would be a different situation with Danila. Podkolzin was on a KHL contract. If Danila is sent to Dynamo Minsk, it would be on a loan agreement, in which case Canucks would dictate the conditions of the loan, including playing time and deployment.

I haven't watched him play in Abbotsford yet, but in exhibition, as good as he looked creating offense, he was struggling in his own end against seasoned NHL player.

It's not impossible that he plays in the NHL this year, but he has a LOT of work to do on how to neutralize experienced, physically mature players before they will risk it.

Let him grow and gain confidence, Abbotsford is the perfect place for him right now. The team can work with him on strength, conditioning and language.

No disagreement at all. If they do bring him up, it would be for a very sheltered experience.

Don’t underestimate Jarid (peanut butter sandwiches) < that was his nic name in Squamish cause the kids couldn’t pronounce his last name right .

    truth.

Jarid historically gets a feel of all the players he sets with and then works with them as their best asset.

In the NCAA final (frozen four) 2017, Jarid scored a hat trick ..  was the happiest I’ve seen the kid,.  Until now, being so close to home and affiliated with his favourite team.

This kid is a beauty,.  If anyone was a fan of Ronning or Morrison , keep an ear out for Jarid.

Klimovich - from Lukashenko to Lukosevicius lol

Klimovich won't see the NHL this year, there is no reason not to give him a full year in Abbotsford.

Pods, I would send down for 2 or 3 games playing top 6.

He was told by the management that one of the reasons they are keeping him in Abbotsford is to have an option to call him up to NHL if needed.

I agree Klim looks great. He wanted that comeback, and he made it happen. He does get beat in puck battles and beaten off the puck on the PP at times, in a weaker league. I think an off-season of adding muscle will be huge for him. He's not quite NHL ready this year but I could see next year getting some games in the case of injuries. Pretty exciting to see that for a 2nd rounder of this year's draft.

What we saw yesterday in the first 2 periods (him losing puck battles on the power play) is primarily due to him being extremely nervous + getting used to playing the point on the power play (he never played that position before). The kid will be fine :-)

  7. Here’s my short take on the subject. Being Jewish, I hated his “Space Jews” joke. As a result - I’ll stop watching him. But I’m not asking to “cancel” him. I’ll simply stop being his fan, that’s all and he won’t see any of my money. That’s my way of reacting to something that I don’t like.

    Brock says hey.

Fair, but how often is Brock used in that role in games? Petey scored a lot more on the power play from the right hash marks compared to Brock's scoring on the power play from the left hash marks. For some reason he's not fed one-timers as often as Petey.

Don't forget we've lost Hamonic ... it's possible someone else ends up on the LTIR as well, plus we could always play a shortened roster.   Basically we have around 5 million, by sending one guy from the stands who didn't dress down, Hamonic and what's left right now ... it's for sure not ideal, but at the same time doable for a player in the pay range.

Think about long term implications of having such a player on the payroll, beyond this season.

Yeah  -  it was amazing how often the PKers left him alone in his favorite position. ...  same as with Ovi.  They needed to switch from a box to a diamond, to have a man always covering him.  But they didn't and paid the price.  Staple a player to Klim's shoulder and defend the rest of the Penalty as a 3 on 4 and taken your chances -  with his shot the percentages are better being a man short against 4 lesser skilled players

Just imagine the power play with Pettersson on the right side and Klimovich on the left side as 2 trigger men :-)

A lot of European wingers play the opposite side to their stick handedness - they are playing on the wider ice and it helps to get a better angle for their shot. Plenty of North American wingers do this too, as they are able to protect the puck better on their off wing when driving the net, but it is easier to get out of your own zone on your natural side. However, in the modern game, wingers often switch side on the attack and end up covering initially on their offside as they recover to their own zone.

Exactly. Also, watch Danila play left side on the power play during the U18 World Juniors when he scored all those goals.

That shot of his is a bomb and he seems to have good instincts of where to be in the O zone. Looks like he could use a bit of work in the D zone but nothing that the AHL experience can't improve.

His father is a wrestler and he was the first one coaching his kid to shoot. There's a great interview with his father in Russian on one of the Belarussian sites (https://hockey.by/news/intervyu/news147460.html), where he recalls 11 year old Danila was practicing his shot on an open rink when downpour started, yet Danila kept on shooting and his father actually gave up first. Work ethic!

They actually brought another forward from Belarus into the same position, Daniil Bourosh (https://www.eliteprospects.com/player/619376/daniil-bourosh), so if Danila was to be assigned to them, they would have to trade that kid (due to the number of imports, with them already having one more European player). Now they realize that Danila most likely is not going to them, so they are trying to get something for him.

He didn’t have trade value mostly due to the Canucks seriously destroying it by trying to turn him into something he isn’t. If they knew he wasn’t going to be the player to fill the hole in the roster they needed to use him to fill, pretty sure they would have gotten a lot more for him the previous offseason after he showed some offense at the NHL level.

Highmore is significantly overrated on cdc. He can skate fast and not much else.

Perfect example of "no matter what the reality is, I'll stick to me guns to the end"...
