  1. Actually, I agree with you Kovy. He would be a great addition to the team but relying on him solely to fix the scoring problem would be absurd. Ryan can chip in a few goals here and there, mostly a passer but has a good shot and can produce points but bottom line isn't an offensive player that can get us over the hump.

If we were to get him, it'd be Booth bought out and sign a top end strict scoring forward to balance out the lines. Then we'd be set but getting ROR alone, you're actually right

Here the common misconception. Canucks aren’t scoring, so that means we need to obtain a goal scorer. For example right now we have scored 1 goal in the last three games, but it’s not because we don’t have a true sniper, it’s simply because our team and star players are way underperforming I don’t care who you put on the twins line they are simply not putting in the effort lately and become invisible at times. We shouldn’t expect the twins to completely carry the team but we can and should be expecting 1-2 goals a game coming from our first line which hasn’t happened in a long time. Unfortunately even if we do bring in a pure goal sniper we still need our star players to play at what their true value is.

We have put the money and term into the Sedin’s our goal scoring woes start and end with them. We can’t put that much emphasis on the secondary scoring at the Sedin’s are taking up the majority of offensive zone opportunity (PP). Imagine what the Pens would look like if Crosby and Malkin stopped scoring, or the Duck with Perry and Getzlaf. It’s up to them (the players) to figure this slump out not so much the GM.

A player like O’Reilly would greatly help out the Canucks. His a younger more offensive version of Ott. He is the type of players that will drive to the net when everyone else is playing perimeter hockey. He provides that option that when players like the twins are not producing they can be replaced. Guys like him are key to playoff success.

  2. Is it really that the canucks need another goal scorer or is it more that we need our star players to start producing.

Sedins have been brutal as of late, too busy thinking about the olympics already I guess. No fight or want in their game and are easily being knocked off the puck. Just something that didn't used to happen with them. When your top two offensive players arn't going so does the teams goal total. Something needs to wake them up.

  3. Ahh this game is getting me so frustrated. Sedins have not been great leaders lately, they don't seem to want it and are not out there trying to win battles. We need to stop picking on guys like booth and start healthy scratching some of our core. Send a message that is you don't want to work for it your not going to play

  4. The twins need to be taken off the 1st pp unit, they've been giving way to much opportunity. if it was any other players they would have been demoted a long time ago..

Time to give others more PP time.

What do we got to lose its not like our pp can get any worse

  5. How about a friggin' scoring winger for the Sedins?

You guys don't need anymore centers.

Why does everyone think the Sedins needs another high end line mate. They are two elite players themselves and elite 1st line players should be able to play with anyone as their line mate. Usually someone who would be a regular 3rd or 2nd liner on any other team gets placed on a line with the elite first line players. Not many teams have 3 elite players all on the same line.

    Toews Sharp Bickell

Crosby Kunitz _____whoever they feel at the time

    Malkin Neal _____

Hossa Kane Saad (as a rookie last year)

    Stamkos St Louis _____

    Ovechkin Backstrom Mojo

    Seguin Benn ____

    Anyone see the trend?

  6. To Colorado: Edler

    To Winnipeg: O'Reilly

    To Vancouver: Kane

Thats actually a good starting point. Add a few player/prospects/pick here or there and it makes it interesting.

    AV's want a top 4 D

    Jets want a true 1/2 C

Canucks want scorer with some grit.

    Add Ott on deadline.

    Sedin Sedin Burrows

    Higgins Kesler Kane

    Booth Ott Kassian

    Sestito Richardson Weise

Size and skill, Hansen and santo seem like the odd men out tho, line up could be juggled around.

  7. So you reckon Stamkos, Ovechkin, Malkin, Carter, Giroux etc., the good goal scorers score all their goals on the perimeter?

    I have some news...

They score the same tough goals as Wheeler, but get twice as many cuz they can also score from outside the box.

And can handle the pinner of a pass when they head to the net.

Yes a priority on some skills pls! :emot-parrot:

I have some news... Stamkos, Ovechkin, Malkin, Carter, Giroux don't play for the canucks and we will never acquire one of them either

Roy has a high end skill that was reasonable to acquire. He's been a 50+ point pace guy every season except his rookie season. Even this season with the blues he's on pace for over 50 points. He did a whole lot for us in playoffs. Canucks need more players that aren't afraid to get dirty and pay the price to win. Kesler can only do so much, but it's easy to understand why he's usually our best players come playoff time.

  8. Honestly that's why I look at Ladd/Wheeler over Kane in Peg deals...They can drive the play and score dirty goals and can push the play/be the physical presence on the ice and its not so 1 dimensional play whereas pure snipers are just that...I don't see Kane in a best of 7 series against Boston, LA, San Jose, Anaheim, etc being the key to winning whereas a Ladd/Wheeler can play Browns style without going all in like we did last night...Way I see it anyway

That's exactly what I was getting at. Sedin's have a tendency of becoming more perimeter type players come playoff time, We need someone with size that can drive the puck to the net and make life hard for a goalie. Not just stop the wristers from the outside with no traffic of fear of rebounds.

  9. I'm going to ask a serious question and I only want smart, well thought out answers. Why does everyone think this team needs a top 6 goal scorer come playoff time?

Now before you answer with how I know everyone is going to answer.

-Bos 8 goals in 7 games

-LA 8 goals in 5 games

-SJ 8 goals in 4 games

What reasoning is there that our team doesn't score come playoff time against those teams?

We don't seem to have trouble against CHI, NSH, or even SJ in 2010 so why those teams?

The Penguins only scored 3 goals in 4 games against BOS last year. Do they need to go out and get more scoring?

Now while your thinking of the response try to remember what everyone said was missing on our team in 2010.

  10. ... For the ones currently going to the Olympics...

Besides, the good ones all know how to get around any testing.

Not at the olympic, something taken very seriously.

And that's what your theory relies on. He knows how to out smart the world Olympic committee who sole job it is to enforce this rule of zero tolerance of PED, but the good ones all know how to get around it. Strong basis.

  11. You do realize hockey isn't a game that the strongest are the best. We'd have teams full of George Laraque's running around. PED do not improve the natural hockey sense and skill set. Something a player like Patrick kane has. Kane the same player who won the conn smythe last year as the best player in the playoffs. And before you go off thinking PED make super players. Just remember captain America is a mov
