    Re: ANA-WPG Trade

While we believe every GM is capable of running their own team (and therefore, we take a very hands-off approach with interfering and using commissioner power), the WPG-ANA deal is really indefensible and the community reaction only reinforces this.  While we commend Stamkos for doing a fantastic job of maximizing his return on his player (which was our sole reason for initially posting), the type of asset-management going on from Morris was, in kind terms, very subpar and harmful to his team.

Let this be a formal warning to all GMs that it pays to be sensible about players and asset-management.  There is no shame in asking for help or consulting other GMs if you are unsure about player values or unsure if a deal is fair.  Unless of a trade deadline, you have ample time to think and analyze the deal you are making well before you send it in.

    Thanks :)

I understand what you're saying but I really would've appreciated it that in the future you don't post a trade like that if you think it's that bad. I thought it was a good deal because of Ritchie's potential and his low cost in terms of cap space. That's how I defend it. Hopefully you guys don't hose me down for this on Kik. In the future I'll ask AV for advice like I did in RGMG. I thought that Penguins team I built in RGMG had lots of potential before those computer issues ended the league.

Whatever guys it's just a game and I hope everyone understands I'm not trying to wreck my team.

Cool have a nice day guys

You came, made a storm of (often questionable) trades, and bolted...  ...and you want to do it again?

I hope the commish team will favour GMs who commit to the long-haul.

Sorry bro. The league I was committed too shut down.

I'd really appreciate it if you guys gave me a second chance. I'm definitely committed to the long haul.

I see him as a Scott Hartnell type of player. A guy that can put up 20 goals while keeping people honest and leaving it out on the ice every shift. Its guys like this you need in the playoffs and no teams want to get rid of them while they are still young and impactful. Kassian was looking to be the same type of player before he got into drugs and alcohol. Guys like this don't come around to often.

Kassian is actually having a pretty good year in Edmonton this year. He's got 21 points in 66 games, which is solid production for a third or fourth line guy.

I think transitioning to the pro-level will be difficult for Zack MacEwen, but he's got lots of potential as seen in the highlight video we all saw. He's got very good speed for a big guy, he's got silky smooth hands.

What I'm wondering is why nobody took a flyer on him in the draft last year or the year before. Anybody know why he didn't get picked? He scored 40 points in 66 games last year, it's not like it was a breakout year.

Mar macewen the new Milan Lucic :bigblush:

He's a bit better than Zack Kassian was at the same age. Keep in mind, Kassian was a first round pick. We got this guy for free,The next Lucic? Possibly. But he will take more time to develop.

When Kassian was 20 years old, he scored 77 points in 56 games for Windsor. MacEwen has 71 points in 64 games and he's 20 years old. At worst, MacEwen is a Kassian replacement. He definitely has some high-end potential and I could see him being a Lucic-type player, but that's just me. He's got silky smooth hands, he's got a bit of speed to his game and he plays a good game defensively, which cannot be said the same for Zack Kassian.

Who knows what we have in MacEwen, but he looks very promising.

Middlestadt would be my 3rd overall pick based on what I've read, but I haven't seen any of these players live.  He sounds like he is a high end offensive centre with size who could replace Henrik.  Vilardi is also very skilled... I'm just not sure.  Pettersson is a safe pick with limited offensive potential.

Limited offensive talent? What? The guy is an absolute gem. Look at some of his highlight clips on youtube, he's got a great toe drag move similar to one Bo used in junior. The only thing I don't like about Elias Pettersson is that he's a leftie. Mittellstadt is also a leftie and isn't putting up as good of production playing in USHL which is an inferior league to SWE-2, Petterson's league..

Jonathan Dahlen, our newly-acquired prospect from the Senators plays on the same line of Timra with Pettersson.
