  1. To Vancouver:

    RW Bobby Ryan(31% retained = $5,000,000 AAV)

    To Ottawa:

    LW Loui Eriksson

    LW Nikolay Goldobin

Even though Ottawa is retaining a significant amount of salary they're still saving about USD$6.75 Million over the next three years. Melnyk is cheap and Ryan is Ottawa's highest paid player. Ryan is a better performer than Eriksson and he's a right handed shot. Ryan would probably fit in nicely on line 2 with Pearson and Horvat. I think he can still put up 50 points if he's on the right line and playing with the right players. Goldobin is still a good young player obviously I'd rather not trade him as he makes coming to Vancouver more attractive for Tryamkin and Podkolzin but he just isn't good enough to play in the top 6 for the Canucks. The Senators on the other hand might be able to accommodate Goldobin's wish to play top 6 hockey.

What do you think of this deal?

It's like saying Canadians and Americans aren't very different. He's not lying. Doesn't mean it isn't their land. Judaism is not the only religion native to that area. Israel is an unrecognized nation and it's people are banned from over 100 countries.

Damn, this thread is gonna get locked in 3...2...1...

Islam comes from the Arabian peninsula and it's not exactly clear where Christianity is from.

It's not our fault that lots of countries don't recognize Israel. I don't know how to explain why we don't have global recognition but the reality is that we have the right to exist as a nation and if you don't agree with that I'm not getting into a debate with you.

I was teasing.   I actually thought of it because this reminded me that Hitler's personal physician notes supposedly had in it that he had a micropenis.

    Hitler had lots of problems.

I feel really sorry for him honestly. It must've been really sad for him to walk around the world with all that hate. Not to mention he was a meth addict. As someone with experience with addiction issues I can sort of understand what he must've been going through with his addiction.

I still hate his guts and would hurt him in a second if I had a time machine and I could go back in time to stop something but I still feel sorry for him.

Just move to NYC.  There are over a million Jews in NYC (around 15% of the population) and roughly just as many upstate.  In fact there are more Jews in the whole of the US than there is in Israel  (8 million vs. 6.5 million).  Although to be fair if you ask a hardcore sect of Judaism, they'll say the US only has around 5.5 million "true" Jews.

Also, if you do move to Israel, enjoy your 32 months of mandatory military service.

I've been to Israel twice I know how the system works there. I'm actually exempt from military service because of a medical condition so...

Decent move by Edm, Neal should be able to pot 20g you'd think with PP time and the opportunity to play in the top 6. Would have been nice if Calgary had some interest in LE, Neal might have been a good fit here...before we traded for Miller and signed Ferland of course!

Eriksson to NYR for Shattenkirk, use him as a PP specialist...could retain salary on him and get a better return vs retaining on Eriksson

Why would NYR do that trade? They only save $650,000

According to Jesse Granger of The Athletic, preliminary offers to the Vegas Golden Knights for Nikita Gusev have included a second-round pick along with a low-level prospect or a lower draft pick.

Granger, who previously reported that Gusev is looking for an annual $4 million salary on a two-year deal compared to the Golden Knights’ offer of a $2 million AAV, believes the underwhelming offers may be the reason Vegas president George McPhee has openly discussed trading the 27-year-old.

Gusev joined the Golden Knights ahead of the playoffs this spring after nine seasons in the KHL but did not appear in a game with the team. He led the KHL in points in 2018-19 with 17 goals and 82 points in 62 games with SKA St. Petersburg before joining Vegas.

“There’s definitely an interest in him,” McPhee told The Athletic earlier this month. “We’ve had people call us on him. We’ll see what develops. I can’t tell you what will happen, but we’ll work on it. He’s been very, very good on the international stage. He wants to play in the NHL. He worked very hard to get over here, and we’re going to accommodate him one way or another, either here or with another club.”

The cap-crunched Golden Knights are already $3.5 million over the $81.5 million cap and have just $1.7 million left in space with David Clarkson's contract shelved on long-term injured reserve. Gusev is the team's lone remaining restricted free agent.

Man the Golden Knights only have 5 defensemen on their roster right now

Now I know you might want to shoot me but here goes as Ottawa trying to hit cap floor:

     Tanev

    Eriksson

    for

    Ryan

    DeMelo

    2020 2nd

    Fire away lol

We need to get rid of one of Pearson or Baertschi and we need to get rid of Schaller.

Tanev is expendable at this point but I doubt he waives to go to Ottawa.

I really like Ryan and DeMelo and I like the pick which will likely be 32nd overall. Helps offset the cost of trading our 1st to Tampa(if we make the playoffs which I think we will) w

  8. To Vancouver:

    LW Paul Bittner

    D Ryan Collins

    To Columbus:

    LW Sven Baertschi

    Explanation:

With Pearson and Miller as our LWs we have no room for Baertschi. Columbus needs some firepower and Baertschi is a good complimentary player. We're just too deep on LW to keep him at this point. We also clear $3.3 Million in cap space trading Baertschi to a gutted Columbus team.

    To Vancouver:

    LW Zack Smith

    To Ottawa:

    LW Loui Eriksson

    VAN 2nd 2021

    LW Tim Schaller

Explanation: in later trades we'll be able to re-coup the 2nd round pick traded to Ottawa. Obviously we needed to add a sweetener to get Ottawa to take on an extra $2.75 Million in salary against the cap. Eriksson's contract is great for Ottawa's tight budget as his salary is much lower than his cap hit. Ottawa is still on the hook for Eriksson's $3 Million USD signing bonus but the remainder of the contract helps Ottawa as a budget team. Vancouver also gets rid of Tim Schaller so he can play regularly as a bottom six forward for the Senators.

    To Vancouver:

    BUF 2nd 2020

    C Rasmus Asplund

    D Zach Bogosian

    To Buffalo:

    C Brandon  Sutter

    D Chris Tanev

Explanation: Vancouver gets a big bruising fairly healthy defenseman in Zach Bogosian. Sabres get a calm, durable defensive defender Chris Tanev. In addition the Sabres gain Brandon Sutter who will help insulate Buffalo's young forwards.

    To Vancouver:

    LW/RW Nikita Gusev

    RW Alex Tuch

    To Vegas:

    LW Nikolay Goldobin

    D Guillaume Brisebois

    RW Jake Virtanen

    VAN 2nd 2020

    Explanation:

Vancouver acquires KHL star Nikita Gusev in exchange for project forward Nikolay Goldobin who will most likely play for the Chicago Wolves. Vegas also gains defensive prospect Guillaume Brisebois to add to their thin prospect pool and a second  round draft pick. Gusev is a helluva gamble for the Canucks but could end up being a huge win for us.

Just like that, Vancouver now has $17,885,000 in cap space.

To start, Vancouver signs RW Brock Boeser to an 8 year $58,000,000 contract with a No-movement clause($7,250,000 AAV)

Then,  Canucks sign RW Nikita Gusev to a 2 year $9 Million contract($4,500,000 AAV)

Vancouver still has a remaining $2,635,000 approximately in cap space. In order to be prepared to add pieces at the deadline if I'm Benning I go into the season with the extra space.

Here's how the 2019-2020 Vancouver Canucks look:

    1-JT Miller-Elias Pettersson-Brock Boeser

    2-Tanner Pearson-Bo Horvat-Nikita Gusev

    3-Antoine Roussel-Adam Gaudette-Alex Tuch

    3-Zack Smith-Jay Beagle-Josh Leivo

    Tyler Motte

    1-Alex Edler-Troy Stecher

    2-Quinn Hughes-Tyler Myers

    3-Jordie Benn-Zach Bogosian

    Olli Juolevi and Oscar Fantenberg

    Starter: Jacob Markstrom

    Backup: Thatcher Demko

  9. We would have to retain close to half of Eriksson's salary to get someone to take him.

Plus if we retain salary on Eriksson he becomes an asset if his cap hit goes down to something closer to a high-end bottom six forward. Let's say we retain 45.8333%(giving him a cap hit of $3,250,000) we could probably get a 2nd or 3rd round pick for Eriksson and we'd be shedding more of Eriksson's salary than we would if we bought him out. He's basically buyout proof so the only way we can get rid of him is by retaining.

We might even get away with retaining 33%($4,000,000 cap hit) if we took a guy like Zack Smith off the Senators. This is all assuming that Eriksson would agree to go to Ottawa. If not maybe Buffalo, Columbus, New Jersey or Montreal would be interested in taking on Eriksson as a 3rd line guy at a RETAINED salary unless we take a SH!T contract back from them.

You are focusing too much on this guys skill as a hockey player, a players value is determined more than by his skill.

AHO is a name you dont often want to associate your self with, it is a foreign sounding, really weird name. I believe it is Native? Personally I wouldnt want him on my team just because of his last name, it sounds wrong.. AHO? Like "ahoy mate" AHO is def native Indian, not sure if you considered this fact?

Many owners/GM's consider a lot of factors when determining the players value, including how well they will be received by their respected markets.

dude are you trolling? What's wrong with you? He's Finnish

Toronto's D doesn't look so bad. They'e got some good puck movers. Kerfoot doesn't have the grit that Kadri has but he can still fill in as a solid 3C with Kapanen or Nylander as one of his wingers.

Toronto could surprise a lot of people next year with a move like this
