War.
Civilian-filled Dresden, Germany in 1945.

”... more destruction fell that city in a single day than was inflicted on the who of Great Britain during the entire war.”

I take Remembrance Day very seriously as that is what was taught to me by my family.

I often think of the people who were forced to go into war throughout the year.

Absolute horror. I can’t even imagine.

Here is a different perspective on a two-day annihilation of Dresden, Germany.  I figured it would be good to reflect on the war in a non traditional sense and came upon the sobering, deleted video. No part of my ancestry is German, but it hit me in the guts just the same.

Lest we forget, all of them, even the German civilians...

My Dad was a Tail Gunner at the end of the 2nd World War on a Bomber

I think of him constantly.............I will never forget!

But I never knew anyone else that was there save one...........

Who was in the Battle of Britain

As one of the last surviving Canadian Battle of Britain members

He was flown to Europe every year by Canada

He never talked about the Horror

But he talked about the men and women

One which he married.............

Hero's!

Today and in yester years, we have another type of hero

who runs forward as we retreat

Give pause in your day tomorrow

for our newest Hero's and as well as our Past Hero's

We owe them our respect and gratitude

They have mine!

Thank you Wendy and Hilde, who fearlessly show up for work

at Nanaimo and Duncan hospitals every shift

Thank you doctors who answer our calls every day......

Thank you to our Ambulance people who suit up in monkey suits to get us to the hospitals

And thank you to the police and Firemen, that never know who or what is around the next corner

Thank you to all that put themselves in harms way to protect us

and thank you to the pilots, tail gunners, artillerymen and spitfires that got my dad home so many years ago

Thank you with all my heart!

And thanks to the RCMP for answering every call.
