i wish opeth vocals weren't as gnarly as they are, otherwise i'd say they are easily just as good as, if not better than 95% of the wanky prog bands from the 70s

Gnarly meaning the growls? If so, check out Damnation and Heritage. Those two albums are fully clean sung (although I found Heritage to be kind of mediocre at times).

The Collectors, Tom Northcott, Northwest Company on the WHERE IT'S AT Special were introduced by British recording star Lulu, voted Britain's Top Female Recording Artist of 1967 who had her own TV series on BBC TV. This is Part 2 of the one hour black & white special which aired on June 26 1968 and presented the best of Vancouver, British Columbia's talent in the 1960s.to Canadian audiences on CBC TV. The special led to a half hour series of the same name. On Part 2 Tom Northcott performs his 2 biggest hits "Sunny Goodge Street" and Bob Dylan's "Girl from the North Country", the Northwest Company (with psychedelic rear screen projection & go-go dancers) sing a Rock 'n Roll medley (Rock and Roll Music, Summertime Blues, Long Tall Sally, Good Lovin',) and the Collectors perform "What is Love?" from their first album The Collectors

From 1969 The Grass Roots, The Beach Boys, Spencer Davis, John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, Jon Lord of Deep Purple, 1910 Fruitgum Company, Tommy James & the Shondells discuss how they feel about the pop music business with host Fred Latremouille in Part 1 of this half hour Magazine Special in the "WHERE IT'S AT" television series from CBC Vancouver. They comment about fads, fashions, trends, the charts, politics, gossip and the hype of '60s rock 'n roll. The program opened with Eric Burdon, Frank Sinatra jr., Little Richard and Pat Paulsen
