billabong
if pittsburghs number 3 center ever hits the market, expect atleast 20 teams knocking on the penguins door asking "how much do you want for him?" pros: - he has untapped offensive potential(has yet to surpass 50 points), he would most definitely hit 70+ points as a number 1 or 2 center without sacrificing his defensive game - 6"4/220 pounds - canadian - has a very affordable cap hit @ 4 million for one more year and then he is UFA eligable in 2013 - strong defensive game - does NOT have a NTC cons: - playoff numbers could be better but he is ripping it up for pit against phi and he is usually used to shut down the other teams best players...22 goals, 34 points in 71 games and has a -14 rating possible suitors for staal: ana, buf, car, chi, cbj, dal, edm, fla, min, mtl, nsh, nj, nyi, phx, tor, wpg highlighted teams are the teams that will be phoning ray shero 24/7 about staals status now if a team is willing to take on martins contract, they could separate themselves from other bidders, he does have a limited NTC and a NMC (3 more years @ 5 million per season) he is their version of ballard...but worse i would imagine that pit would be looking for a solid number 3 center (preferably a righty), a steady left handed defenseman and a high draft pick or a high end prospect to ana: staal to pit: ryan to buf: staal to pit: stafford, sekera, 2nd pick 2013 to tor: staal, martin to pit: bozak, armstrong, gunnarsson to wpg: staal, martin to pit: fehr (RFA rights), hainsey, gregoire, 1st pick 2013, condtional 2nd pick 2013 (if staal re-signs) its hard to post proposals because all the teams have free agents on july 1st so they dont have much to give

Miss Korea Bob.Loblaw
Pittsburgh has an excellent core of veterans on the wings (Dupuis, Kunitz and Cooke all had career years at 32-33). Acquiring some prospects now allows the team to slowly transition away from the veterans a few years down the road. I don't know if they have the money to pick up another star forward. ButterBean
Bobby Ryan for Staal would be a real interesting trade. Would probably benefit both teams. Pittsburgh gets the most lethal top 6 in the league. Anaheim gets depth at the center position and depth on offense. Kunitz - Malkin - Neal Dupuis - Crosby - Ryan Selanne - Getzlaf - Perry _______ - Staal _________

gradin123
I think teams would be buying high on Staal. He is a good player but his point production in this playoffs is not the norm for him. He also is injury prone.
