Vancouver gets a playmaker for the 2nd line who can play centre or wing and a top prospect along with a solid veteran goalie who can take some of the load off Schneider _____________________________________________________________________________ Signings: D Carlo Colaiacovo: 2 years, $4 million; $2 million per season D Matt Gilroy: 1 year, $750K F Petr Sykora: 2 years, $3 million; $1.5 million per season Colaiacovo will be replacing Ballard and is a good bottom 4 dman who will be able to act as an anchor/mentor to young players like Tanev who will be playing along side him. Sykora is a player with tremendous up side who signs cheap and is a good depth player, very versatile - can play anywhere from the 2nd line to the 4th - can rotate with Pinizzotto in the lineup. Gilroy is a depth guy who can step in when injuries occur. Roster: Sedin - Sedin - Burrows Booth - Weiss - Kesler Hansen - Helm - Kassian Higgins - Lapierre - Pinizzotto Sykora, Malhotra, Weise Hamhuis - Bieksa Edler - Garrison Colaiacovo - Tanev Alberts, Gilroy Schneider Theodore $3 million in cap space. The Florida deal is kinda nuts though... even Tallon (who gave away his best winger for nothing because Samuelsson and Sturm didn't resign) isn't that stupid.
