dudeone
Despite Conservative Support, Petition to Deport Piers Morgan Still Doesn't Have Enough Signatures By Connor Simpson | The Atlantic Wire – 4 hrs ago http://news.yahoo.com/despite-conservative-support-petition-deport-piers-morgan-still-213316378.html Maybe the traditional conservative media power brokers are starting to falter. Despite support from some of the big names, a White House petition to deport Piers Morgan over his strong stance on gun control in the wake of the Sandy shooting still doesn't have enough signatures. The petition popped up Saturday afternoon. Morgan has been vocal on his show, and his Twitter account, about the need for new gun control legislation in the U.S. since Sandy Hook. Most notably, Morgan generated headlines the other day for asking Larry Pratt, the executive director of Gun Owners of America, "you're an incredibly stupid idiot, aren't you?" So, yeah, that happened. And then this White House petition showed up. It was apparently created yesterday, but wasn't really discovered until this morning: British Citizen and CNN television host Piers Morgan is engaged in a hostile attack against the U.S. Constitution by targeting the Second Amendment. We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens. It got tweets of support from the likes of Ann Coulter: Problem: Gun owners don't like to be on lists.Solution: There are lots of reasons to want to deport Piers Morgan - 1.usa.gov/T6fMZV— Ann Coulter (@AnnCoulter) December 22, 2012 And Matt Drudge: WHITE HOUSE PETITION CALLS FOR DEPORTATION OF PIERS MORGAN AFTER GUN RANT... drudge.tw/VYmtbC— DRUDGE REPORT (@DRUDGE_REPORT) December 22, 2012 And Drudge gave it an ALL CAPS billing near the top of his website, too: And yet, the petition still only has a little more than 8,000 signatures. Drudge has 450,000 Twitter followers. Coulter has 300,000 followers, too. Drudge's website is one of the most notorious traffic hoses on the entire Internet. It stands to some reason that the petition shouldn't have had a hard time filling out the full 25,000 signatures required to generate a White House response. Maybe it's because the idea of deporting him for speaking out against one Constitutional amendment violates another very-importent Constitutional, as Morgan pointed out: Ironic U.S. gun rights campaign to deport me for 'attacking 2nd Amendment rights' - is my opinion not protected under 1st Amendment rights?— Piers Morgan (@piersmorgan) December 22, 2012

TOMapleLaughs
He's not attacking the constitution. He's attacking incredibly stupid idiots. Unfortunately for him, these incredibly stupid idiots are standing behind the constitution. What he hasn't factored in is that taking guns away from 'merican gun nut militias and gangbangers, let lone soccer moms and hunters, presents a truly dangerous problem for the government. You can try to get them to register their guns too, but that ain't easy either. Still, you'd think they should do... Something... Other than add more guns. RUPERTKBD
I was watching his show the other day and I have to say he was pretty brutal on the guest he had on, representing the gun lobby. Good for him. It's about time someone had the balls to take these guys on.
etsen3
Why is it that people always pick and choose which rights they want to defend based on their political affiliations. For example in this case these Republicans are acting like they care so much about rights and the Constitution. But deporting him for expressing an opinion would go against the First Amendment. No logic.

key2thecup
1,796 signatures need by January 13th, they will easily make those and the WH will be forced to react to the petition, most likely doing nothing, but symbolic I guess. Its funny the petition was made Friday, the MSM was criticizing it Saturday, and its now almost complete on Sunday. I think they're attempt backfired. Canuckerbird
"White House petition" makes it sound like the Obama Administration is behind this petition. Is that the case here?
key2thecup
Well there you go. Thousands sign U.S. petition to deport Piers Morgan over gun comments (Reuters) - More than 66,000 people have signed a petition that they posted on the White House website demanding that British CNN talk show host Piers Morgan be deported over comments he made on air about gun control. Morgan last week lambasted pro-gun guests on his show, after the December 14 mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut, where a gunman shot dead 26 people, including 20 children. "We demand that Mr. Morgan be deported immediately for his effort to undermine the Bill of Rights and for exploiting his position as a national network television host to stage attacks against the rights of American citizens," the petition said. The petition, started on December 21 by a man identified as Kurt N. from Austin, Texas, accuses Morgan of subverting the second amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which guarantees the right to bear arms. U.S. citizens can file a petition on the White House website, whitehouse.gov, if they collect at least 25,000 signatures within 30 days. The White House is then obliged to issue a response. surtur
the guy is just pointing out that not everyone in America that has the right to own a gun should be allowed to. I agree just because you have not had a criminal history or a recorded/documented history of mental illness does not mean you should be allowed to own and use a gun. they should have a test of ones ability to use common sense before issuing a license to carry a weapon.... but the same could be said for driving a vehicle (ironically is harder to obtain a license for then to own a gun) and for the right to have children.... but it will never happen. stupid people will keep having stupid children who will keep buying bigger and badder guns and become emotionally unstable and shoot up kids in a school or people in a movie theater etc..because they think they have a right to make a name for themselves and one up the last person to do what they did. and gun control does not mean gun elimination. funny thing is i am not for gun control but i am for selective licensing of gun owners. a gun registry does not work don't do that. but just because you are 18 years old have a valid ID, no history (recorded history) of mental illness or no criminal record does not mean you should have the right to own a gun. I am not against the elimination of guns from citizens because you never know what will happen in the future and if there ever is a revolution and a fight against the government or an invasion the people need to be able to protect themselves. plus some people do still hunt and use them for non confrontational uses. but really who needs to own an assault rifle other then the bad ass factor and the mine is bigger badder faster then yours mentality , are you gonna go kill a deer with that.....? mind you it would be pretty awesome when the Zombies attack.. but other then that i would sign the petition to get him out of my country no matter what the reason that guy is a tool.
