Why is the NHL not posting which referees are in the second round?

It's a pretty pointless gesture to keep Sutherland out of the second round if they are doing so because he behaved unprofessionally unless they also state as much publicly and then actually do something to address the current reffing culture that makes that acceptable. Otherwise, they're doing nothing more than sweeping the problem under the rug yet again, all but ensuring it will continue in the future. Sweeping it under the rug didn't work with Auger and it won't work with Sutherland or any other ref who feels they can use their position to further outside or personal agendas.

People like to pretend Vancouver is the only team that has had problems with refs, but that's far from true. In fact, we weren't even the team with the biggest beef against Auger. After Burrows made his allegations, he got fined but Auger didn't get anything other than kept from working the playoffs. The very next year, however, he (along with the other on ice officials) was accused by the NYI of purposefully effecting the outcome of a game with unfair reffing.

The big brouhaha with the NYI followed their OT loss in a March 12, 2011 game in which they receive 4 fewer PP opportunities than NJ thanks to what they said was unfair officiating. Several NYI players accused him (and the other on ice officials) of purposefully effecting the outcome of the game. Apparently, the Islanders got only 11-seconds of PP time in the entire game.

The NHL said they would look into the officiating in that game. If you can find their conclusion to that I'm sure exhaustive investigation, you're Google skills are better than mine...

But, at least some believe that Auger's retirement the following year was "strongly encouraged" so as to allow the NHL to continue avoiding admitting they have a problem.

Fun facts: The other ref in that NYI/NJ game was Chris Lee. He, along with Sutherland, reffed our Game 4 in the SJ series. In that game, we received 4 fewer PPs and a total of 4x the PIM due in no small part to what many in the hockey world, not just Canucks fans, agree were penalties softer than warm marshmallows.

"Any suggestion that Colin Campbell performs his job with any less than 100 percent integrity at all times and in every decision he makes is way off base and just factually wrong," deputy commissioner Bill Daly told TSN.ca

"Let's give him Warren and [referee] than (sic) he will really have something to whine about."

Campbell referring to intentionally setting up a situation where a team/player is given referees that he knows will result in exaccerbating the conflict between a team/players and particular officials.

In the context of sending Sutherland and Lee into Game 4, I find this comment and evidently intentional practice in the NHL particularly relevent.

"gas this ----head."

Campbell referring to an official who calls a game in a way he, as a "hockey Dad", didn't like.

Do guys that Daly, Campbell et all like climb the ladder while the less cooperative get terminated?

Fired official Dean Warren, referring to why he believes Steven Walkom was installed as head of officiating

"I believe the reason why he was put in that position was he was part of the (NHLOA) and gave a lot of successes to the league."

"In my opinion, he didn't have the skill to take that position."

And another Campbell quote:

"Is there a way we can tract (sic) and total minors called by referees[?]"

Kind of indicates how "accountable" they are, doesn't it, when the czar doesn't know whether the performance of officials can be "tract"/tracked?

Carry on NHL - no problems here.
