Pittsburgh Penguins Official Statement

The Pittsburgh Penguins are very happy to have our franchise player, Steven Stamkos signed to the longest contract term allowed by the current CBA. We expressed to Steven and his agent that we wanted him in the black and gold for life and made a promise that we would do everything within the CBA to make the Penguins a contender year in and year out. Steven bought into the model we are building and took less than market value to stay with a team he believes in. We thank Arby for a very professional negotiation process.

We are also happy to have Ryan Nugent Hopkins and Alex Killorn both locked into multi year contracts. Both are young players we look forward to them taking the next step in their careers.

Best of Luck: NIck Ebert and the Guelph Storm tomorrow afternoon in the Memorial Cup Final. The New York Rangers are very proud to call Nick Ebert our Prospect, and he is proving why he will soon play in the GML with each and every game. Nick surely is in the running for MVP, with yet another assist and plus 1 last game. He has posted points and stayed positive on the plusminus in each and every game thus far.

Thrilled to have Eric returning to the roster, he will bring leadership and skill to our blue line, he is a very under-rated player.

With Brewer officially back in the fold, it appears the Avalanche will not be bringing Jay Bouwmeester back next season due to salary cap constraints. Teams interested in acquiring his rights to bolster their roster should get in touch with Colorado.

Absolute steal for New Jersey.

The Montreal Canadiens have made a few moves and signings official this offseason, as they continue to search for the elusive mix needed to contend in the East. And they felt that dropping 5 spots in next months draft, from 8th to 13th, made sense in order to bring in another solid youngster in Calle Jarnkrok. Add that to the addition of top-6 centre Mikhail Grabovski, and Montreal is very pleased with where things currently stand.

In: Mikhail Grabovski (trade), Calle Jarnkrok (trade) Brandon Pirri (RFA), Slater Koekkoek (ELC), 2014 NYI 1st (13th Overall)

Out: Michael Latta (trade), Andrei Loktionov (trade), 2014 MON 1st (8th Overall)

And perhaps one of the biggest moves for the team is the move of Brent Burns back to the blue-line.

Updated Depth Chart

Nash - Filppula - Tanguay

Galchenyuk - Grabovski - Calvert

Haula - Pirri - Jarnkrok

Miller - Slater - Cole

Tangradi - Peluso

E. Johnson - Burns

Brodie - Olsen

Smid - McBain
