ActionJax09
What a lot of people do not realize is that trading Schneider was a cap move. They needed to get under the cap and his contract was the only one big enough that they were able to move. I didn't know that until I heard Gilis say it in an interview. Azzy Mahmood
I had zero problem with trading Schneider. Especially when the return was Bo Horvat. But trading Luongo as well was an awful move by our GM. In fact, the treatment of Lu for the last 5 years has been nothing short of scandalous. We need to sign an experienced goalie - perhaps Giguere, maybe Thomas - to mentor Lack. He's not ready.
canuck2xtreme
Canucks don't need a mentor for Lack. They need a starting goaltender. This time last year, they had two. Their return for trading two starting goaltenders? A backup goaltender, a 3rd line center and a draft pick. Bo Horvat or not, that's VERY poor asset management. Caboose
Canucks are in a bit of a hole. I see a guy like Nabokov or maybe even Brodeur coming in next year as a mentor.

Henrik, Burrows, Booth, Hansen, Daniel have combined for 3 goals in 120 games + combined (about a quarter of the season) when half your top-9 has that kind of production you aren't going to win any games. Fair enough, though I do think Lack is a very good goalie that is capable of starting, sure there's some risk in him but I think with his demeanor and skill set he is capable of doing the job. Goaltending is at the end of our list of problems IMO. If the twins can get back to being 70~ point players and Burrows 20~ goals I don't think we're THAT screwed.. obviously some big holes to be filled but our top-line dropping off like it has, pretty much killed our playoff chances. y0shi
On a completely unrelated note, I rarely look at pickup standings anymore, mainly because PO does a great job updating us here. However, can't help but note: Top 10 PPG: LAK 3.71 FLA 3.62 NJD 3.52 TBL 3.46 BUF 3.44 NYI 3.41 OTT 3.41 WPG 3.41 PIT 3.38 MIN 3.36 Bottom 10 MGP DAL 907 TBL 1022 CBJ 1022 PHI 1029 ANA 1034 NSH 1056 TOR 1057 CGY 1065 NYI 1073 VAN 1127 MGM (not very accurate as it doesn't include IR) DAL 503 CBJ 474 ANA 443 TBL 375 NSH 364 TOR 350 NYI 349 PHI 348 DET 344 MTL
Ovechkinator
The Hero Vancouver needs (well one of them). I don't know what you guys think but I think he would be a good fit in Vancouver and will no doubt be available this summer. Goaltending may not be your number one problem but he would certainly strengthen you in net. Feel pretty sorry for him in Toronto right now. He has been good but just isn't seeing much time because Bernier has been phenomenal. In all seriousness, I predict he ends up back with Burke in Calgary though. NYI will be interested I too guess but the Leafs probably move him out of the conference when the time comes.
