Primal Optimist
Interesting... Jake Muzzin signs in LA for 2 years at only 1M a year????!!! Smart younger players are realizing that you can be really good at hockey, but if your pricing yourself out of the roster on paper, you will never get the icetime to prove yourself in reality. Backlund, Muzzin and more have learned lessons from older higher paid underperforming 'stars' and are earning their paychecks in their entirety before looking for a cash in. Smart hockey sense, and smart boardroom sense. Jake is a real treasure for the GML Rangers to have.
canuck2xtreme
CBA REVISION Article 3 Section 2 - SALARY CAP has been revised. Changes are in bold. 3.2 – Salary Cap The CDCGML salary cap for the 2013-14 season will be a maximum of $64.3 million and a minimum of $44 million. During the season, no move will be processed that would put your team over or under the salary cap. In the offseason, the 10% rule is in effect, and teams cannot be over the cap by more than 10% of the cap ceiling at any point. Trades or signings that would put a team more than 10% over the cap during the off-season will not be processed by the league. This means that for this off-season, teams cannot go over the cap by more than $6.43 million. ($70.73 million total) As far as I can see, no team is above that number as it is. To aid teams in complying with this and to give players that would be bought out in September more options, and teams more players to consider for their rosters, we are revising the compliance buyout window. Teams are allowed to use compliance buyouts only to buy out players effective immediately through July 20th. Remember that to use a compliance buyout the player must clear waivers first, so in turn, waivers are in effect for buyout purposes until July 20th. Players can still be moved from active to minors without waivers. This will be the LAST chance this off-season to use a compliance buyout, as they will not be allowed in the September window. The Dates to Remember post has been revised to reflect this change.

canuck2xtreme
Are we allowed to use Regular buy outs right now? No, the only reason the compliance one was moved up was to help teams with the addition of the 10% rule. Regular buyouts are far less frequent, so they will still be in the September window.
