"We are excited to have won the lottery and to have the opportunity to select first"; something GM Disaronno has never done before. After running through a number of different scenarios, Kings management unanimously agreed that having the opportunity to draft the best player [Crosby] in the world likely outweighs a strategy of moving down a few spots to pick earlier in the upcoming rounds. However, GM Disaronno quickly pointed out that the Los Angeles Kings will listen to trade offers from a select group of teams looking to acquire the 1st overall pick. "The Kings are open to moving the pick, but will only consider offers from teams within the top 10", said GM Disaronno. If the LA Kings move down, it is being suggested that they would be looking to acquire higher picks in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th rounds of the draft. Again, Los Angeles is willing to listen, but are more than happy selecting 1st overall for the first time since Rick Pagnutti was selected in 1967.
