GERMANY /thread :)

I think the USA can beat Portugal. I can't stand either of those teams though so I hope my Germans destroy both of them and Ghana makes it through.

I played on a Chilean team for quite a while so hoping for them but yeah, that's the group of death although I think Holland is due to choke yet again.

A bit harsh, don't you think? Losing 1-0 in extra time to the best team in the world last time around?

Anyway, "choking" aside, it doesn't look good for the Oranje. At first I thought it was okay being in the same group as Spain. Finish second and you won't see them again until the final. But looking at the knockout stage, it looks like they'll be facing Brazil right away...

Idk Argentina will definitely destroy that group, but I don't think there is as big a difference between Nigeria and Bosnia Herzegovina as people are making it seem, they've got a few pretty solid players.

Dzeko, and Ibisevic will have to really go beast mode, because they have almost no midfield help, their D is quite decent and they have Begovic in net

BTW: Belgium is gonna win the 2018 world cup, Lukaku, Benteke, Chadli, Hazard, De bruyne, and Courtois are all young players who will be in their prime.

England will have to face the inferno of Manaus 1st. HUGE heat wave, moisture. you know, the "same" weather they find in England...

My English mother used to sing this song when I was a kid

Mad Dogs And Englishmen - Noel Coward

In tropical climes there are certain times of day

When all the citizens retire to tear their clothes off and perspire.

It's one of the rules that the greatest fools obey,

Because the sun is much too sultry

And one must avoid its ultry-violet ray.

The natives grieve when the white men leave their huts,

Because they're obviously, definitely nuts!

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun,

The Japanese don´t care to, the Chinese wouldn´t dare to,

Hindus and Argentines sleep firmly from twelve to one

But Englishmen detest-a siesta.

In the Philippines they have lovely screens to protect you from the glare.

In the Malay States, there are hats like plates which the Britishers won't wear.

At twelve noon the natives swoon and no further work is done,

But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

It's such a surprise for the Eastern eyes to see,

that though the English are effete, they're quite impervious to heat,

When the white man rides every native hides in glee,

Because the simple creatures hope he will impale his solar topee on a tree.

It seems such a shame when the English claim the earth,

They give rise to such hilarity and mirth.

Ha ha ha ha hoo hoo hoo hoo hee hee hee hee ......

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

The toughest Burmese bandit can never understand it.

In Rangoon the heat of noon is just what the natives shun,

They put their Scotch or Rye down, and lie down.

In a jungle town where the sun beats down to the rage of man and beast

The English garb of the English sahib merely gets a bit more creased.

In Bangkok at twelve o'clock they foam at the mouth and run,

But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

Mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

The smallest Malay rabbit deplores this foolish habit.

In Hong Kong they strike a gong and fire off a noonday gun,

To reprimand each inmate who's in late.

In the mangrove swamps where the python romps

there is peace from twelve till two.

Even caribous lie around and snooze, for there's nothing else to do.

In Bengal to move at all is seldom ever done,

But mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun.

no way! England will be lucky to get out of their group. I think Italy and Uruguay come out of that group

oh yeah there´s Uruguay on this group. the team is strong, their fans don´t need any kind of VISA (Mercosul country) and they will be playing in southern cities. their fans will invade the stadiums (since you can go from Uruguay to Brazil by car)...

good luck England...

Mother's English, sister was born there, been there 15-20 times, got a bunch of relatives there, very briefly considered doing an apprenticeship with a couple 3rd and 4th Division clubs.

haha this is probably the only reason I cheer against them....So i can make fun of my cousins. Just went there in the summer.

I don't much like the chances for the Dutch, thanks to the way the draw has shaped up. My second choice would be England, but although I think they can make it out of the group stage, I don't think they're good enough to go any further.

My pick is Argentina, but the really important thing for me is that Italy and Portugal lose...
