Hindsight is always 20/20

So what your saying is because Canadian teams are having an off year 2014, this year it's all atrributed to the NHL draft?

What happen in 2011 and Kesler was a big reason canucks went to the cup? Are you just dicrediting that?

Same with OTT and how big of role Spezza played in their 2007 run? What is just a ruise for the great demise of canadian teams in 2014?

Or the NHL rigged the draft in 2008 so that the sens would get stuck with Karlsson and his lazy defensive ability and gave the southern market teams like the Hurricanes CBJ and Hawks, those real NHL gems like Beach, Boychuk, Filiatov... I get it now.... NHL rigging the draft indeed.

The 2008 draft wasn't strong, and respectfully, neither is Karlsson. He's an offensive wizard, but so was Mike Green. Ottawa is worse off this season than last season when he was injured.

It takes a lot of events to get a specific group of professional sports teams to all stink at the same time. To me, it's not a coincidence that they're Canadian now. Just looking at what's already happened.

But yes, the odd Canadian team making the finals and losing appears to be part of the process.

I would not be shocked if Montreal made it really far this season, and next season they begin a spiral downward, starting with some bs drama about Subban that leads to him being dealt. But if it's not Montreal who does it, rest assured some other Canadian team will rise up and dramatically fall, as planned.

You want to look at the 2003 draft

Edmonton drafted 22nd and at the time draft Marc-Antoine Pouliot and 18 year old kid, just came off a 114 pt season in the QMJHL. How did the oilers know he wasn’t going to drop of the world? I mean it wasn’t like he wasn’t a good choice. 6’1, 200lb center. Did the league know this guys was going to be a bust, because it sure didn’t seem like EDM was going off the charts when they chose him at the time.

In 2003

Why did CBJ draft Zherdev 4th overall?

Why did NYR draft Jessiman?

NYI Nilsson?

SJ Bernier?

You act like the league decides what player is going to be good and which ones will suck. That the league has a hand in player development and who wins the scoring titles. There may be league bias but that’s the extent. This isn’t the WWE, there are too many stakeholders involved.

If he got dealt to the canucks I wouldn't complain

Looking at the Canadian contingent in those lists and you can plainly see why all Canadian franchises are struggling to remain competitive.

It's truly a tale of woe:

1-5:

Spezza - Did make finals and lose. Struggles to remain healthy. Rumoured to be on the block.

Price - Constant rumours of partying and whatnot. Fairly inconsistent, but is good now.

L. Schenn - Traded after not panning out in TO.

Three? That's it? No wonder all Canadian teams stink now.

6-15:

Kadri - One-dimensional wonder

Hemsky - Laughable injury history

Karlsson - Great offensively, lazy defensively

Phaneuf - Just not all that good

Dubnyk - Sieve

Hodgson - Traded prima donna

16-30:

Kesler - On the block

Eberle - One-dimensional

Rask - Insanely traded

Schneider - See Rask

Schroeder - Busting out?

Pacioretty - Decent, but not great.

2nd round+:

Subban - Not re-signed yet. Like Price, has 'off-ice issues' blah, blah, blah and he probably won't be a career Hab.

Grabovski - Traded

Silverberg - Traded

Edler - On the block

Canadian teams have been subsidizing the south for years and years. In return for their efforts, the NHL takes their franchises and moves them south when hard times hit Canada.

Most of these drafted players applaud themselves when they get traded from their Canadian team to and American one because they know they have a shot at winning then.

The players on your lists traded to a Canadian team are usually overpaid, have already won a cup and/or are just in it for a paycheck.

Hindsight is 20/20 alright. The draft is rigged.

Jesus Christ, man. You personally keep Reynolds Wrap afloat with all the tinfoil wrapped around your head.

Is he not among the goal leaders in the NHL...
