Yes, when a left handed pitcher comes into the game, it makes sense to bring in a right handed batter, but those splits are not nearly as pronounced righty on righty. If it were such a slam dunk, it would make sense for Navarro to pinch hit for Martin, or to give Smoak more starts against righties than EE or Colabello. Valencia is not a star on the jays. He is not Donaldson, Martin, EE, Jose. Not a guy you pay big bucks to come through in the clutch, so that makes it a no brainer. Prospects if they're really serious and go all in which I doubt. EE if they're serious but conservative which I think is most likely.
