If you aren't going to get the GTX 20 series card in 2-3 months, then get the 1080Ti video card.  Both the 1080Ti and upcoming 20 series are Pascal based architecture and pretty heavy duty.

Thanks for the tips man. My neighbour is a huge PC guy and has a lot of knowledge so he'll be my crutch in the process lol. It'll be made by April 10th.

So far the only part I grabbed was this:

http://www.bestbuy.ca/en-ca/product/intel-intel-core-i7-4790k-quad-core-4-0ghz-lga-1150-processor-bx80646i74790k/10552900.aspx?

I got it on sale at a different store so I had to lol

Don't take this the wrong way but why in the hell would you get a 3 generation old CPU that came out years ago?!  It doesn't even run on the current-gen LGA1151 motherboards!  You'll have to buy a 3 year old motherboard.  Here's a current-gen Kaby Lake CPU which runs faster and cooler that also comes with 3 free games on Newegg's Canadian website:  https://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117726&ignorebbr=1

LOL Don't worry I cancelled my order due to a friends recommendation and he showed me this link so this is what I ordered. I then came here and it's the same product you listed so I ordered this one instead.

You can also get ideas from the PC Master Race Reddit page if you'd like to see what others are doing...

Just got an email from Steam saying Franchise Hockey Manager 3 is on sale, 50% off so around $25.  Going to download it after work, I like FHM more than EHM so pretty stoked.  I'll show Benning how it's done:bigblush:

Recently ordered a second monitor. I could only go so long without two and nearly two years is long enough.

I also purchased Assassin's Creed: Liberation since it was on sale for about $7 on Steam. I've heard mixed reviews, but I have an AC craving and for $7, it's not much of a cost.

Which monitor did you go with?

Thanks dude! Reddit is awesome so I'll check the sub Reddit.

ill post when I get another part.

Post before you get the part so we can either pat you on the back for a good choice or kick you in the butt for a bad choice.  Your near-miss/disaster with the CPU has me worried.

I had to get one that was DisplayPort-compatible, as my only HDMI port is already being used by my first monitor.

That's a nice general use monitor, but if you ever decide to get one for 3-D gaming, spend the extra $70 and go for one with a higher refresh rate like this one:

3-D gaming doesn't appeal to me and I was only really looking for a second monitor. My first one will probably be the one I use for gaming and this one will be the one where I have other things open, like internet tabs and such. It doesn't need to be particularly good.

In that case, you made a great choice.

I'm with you though on 3D games, I personally don't play them often enough for it to matter much.  My 42 y.o. middle aged man reflexes already make it so that I'm terrible at online FPS games.  I'll lose just as fast at 120 frames/sec as I will at 50 or 60.

This just be the most well worded post on CDC. You nailed it on the head ::D. Glad I showed my neighbour before ordering it.

GPU Will most likely be a GeForce GTX 1080 Ti

Monitor I already have which is a 28" 4K 1ms ASUS monitor. It's only 60hz so my main goal here is to be running games in 4K 60fps.

If cost is an issue with the monitor then give this one or one like it a try.

Only $280 - 144 Hz gaming

Whoops.  Just noticed the 4k part... lol

For monitors I'd never cheap out. I'll probably end up waiting until 4K HDR 1ms monitors exist before getting another one. I invested quite a bit in mine and all the other specs on it are top tier besides hertz because at the time I didn't think I needed a powerful computer so getting more than 60hz wasn't necessary. If I can get 4K 60fps I'd be more than happy lol.

Yeah, it just penetrated my skull after you posted that you were looking to do 4k gaming.  That's not a 4k monitor.

Sorry.  I have a lot on my mind today.  Disregard my previous post that I've replaced with a period.
