nomz
Too many people jumping to conclusions. This isn't a video game where you can fast forward and see how things pan out. And it's not just about drafting, it's also about the strength of the organization to develop players. Anyways, we haven't had an identity for three years. With a new prez, GM, and head coach, we're definitly going to have to wait until the season starts to understand what kind of team Vancouver will be. KellyHrudey
Posted this in a thread that was locked for being redundant. Must have missed the memo. Are negative threads not allowed? Why aren't any of the redundant positive threads being locked? This is why everyone shifts over to HFBoards. The odds of us making the playoffs next year... are slim to none - yet Benning goes out and trades for players that can help us win now. We don't need players that can help us now. We need players that will help us in 3-5 years when we have a chance at finishing better than 7th or 8th in the conference. By that time, Sbisa, Dorsett and Bonino will be approaching their thirties... Fans are ready for a rebuild, yet this has all the markings of a retool - and now we just have to wait for the other shoe to drop in the form of an aging, veteran goalie, so that we can earn +5 points over this past year and come in 8-10th when we should be stock piling draft picks. Kesler was our biggest trade chip, and we needed to bank that chip for a piece that could help us in 2-3-5 years. Not immediately. I'd much have preferred a straight up 10th overall pick to 2 players that will most likely be gone in 3-5 years. It's like Benning never got the memo that this isn't the Eastern Conference, and that the Canucks, while a playoff-team in the East, are bottom-feeders in the West. PS: It would also have been nice to see RItchie pulling on a Canucks sweater instead of watching the Ducks laugh all the way to the bank after robbing it earlier in the morning. FireGillis
We are not cup contenders for the next few years. People need to get that through their skulls. Its called rebuilding. We took our shot at the cup and missed it. Time to rebuild and do it again. I'm absolutely fine with a rebuild, but this year's draft failed to give us the great pieces needed for a rebuild. Virtanen over nylander/ehlers will come back to haunt us. Our identiy is going to be amassing safe players and grinders instead of top end skill. Today was a really disappointing day. Then go back to your hugbox and mod worshipping circlejerk at HFboards Your thread was closed because you literally haven't contributed ANYTHING but bitching about the trades. That was the best offer he got for Kesler, and Kesler did NOT want to stay here. The 10th pick would get us one player who could never end up contributing at the NHL level, let alone be as good as Kesler. Bonino and Sbisa will be great here and I'm sure our 26th pick is going to have some decent potential.

Umnnnn....that selfish Kesler destroyed any bargaining we had by not only stating he wanted out of Vancouver but also that he only wanted to go to 2 teams. We did very well getting what we got - most of the hockey world thinks so as well. Depending what we do with our spare $17 million of cap space may mean we are in the playoffs next year - not 3 - 5 years down the road... This Canucks fan is excited with the changes so far and am pumped for the upcoming season - something I haven't felt for a long time. BTW, everyone doesn't shift to the HF boards. PS - if you like the HF Boards so much then why are you here?
BenDrinkin
how do you know hes a terrible pick you goof Because he's a terrible fan, who's both uneducated and outspoken. The worst combination of characteristics, and he's not alone in this fan base with both.
