xereau
Montreal needs to blow their team up. Too many smurf sized bandaid fixes over too long. How does Bergevin still have a job? 2

How does Bergevin still have a job? Prior to Drouin and Byron getting hurt in the same game Montreal was top 10 in the league. The loss of Drouin is exacerbated by a hole on the left D. This is a team that put up 96 points last season. They have issues. But they’re not really a team that needs to blow it up Edited December 2, 2019 by qwijibo 1 1

And that offer sheet this summer was the laughing stock of the entire league. Montreal now = The Calgary Flames 8 years ago, caught in a never ending cycle of halfassed retools.

Montreal has been quietly rebuilding. They had 21 picks in the last 2 drafts, 11 of them in the top-100 - and many analysts said they made great picks. (By comparison, Canucks had 15 picks, 5 in the top-100.) At the same time, last year they nearly made the playoffs, and until some injury trouble this year they were doing very well. But a few players that surprisingly played very well for them last year have struggled this season (including Kotkaniemi & Kulak). Bergevin has to make a move to shore up the D, and get a decent back-up goaltender. Edited December 2, 2019 by D-Money
