NHL Hockey is continuing to grow, it's a no brainer its not really a no brainer - NHL has not where near the sales potential of other sport. If we take the below top 10 shirt sales from soccer teams which get new 'tweaked' designs either each year or every other year, with a home away and third kit, the market potential is far greater to get a top team for Adidas than the NHL. While the NHL is one of the more lucrative sport markets (just behind the EPL) I believe this doesn't necessarily translate to money in Adidas pocket, and even marketing revenue as the potential exposure for a top soccer team is far more international, the European Market is a far larger market - there international reach touches every part of the world. Ice hockey no where near that.

Ice hockey no where near that. The first thought that came to my find was not European football but MLS's growth. In any case, don't think Adidas taking the initiative to not renew is good news for the NHL. Also don't think CCM will be able to pay what Adidas was paying.
