Popular Post SilentSam
Always enjoyed Tom’s jounalism on bands coming through Vancouver, and those home grown. Back in the day when Live Venues and Newspaper columns were your only source of information. Hope your front row for the next act Tom , Rest Well. 5
Popular Post chon derry
I met Tom in 1988. While driving for a furniture moving firm. Him and his wife Kerry Marshall.(province leisure columnist) They owned a really funky apartment on Davie st. Then sold it and bought Ra McGuires (trooper) house on smith Ave in Burnaby. Got to know both of them he had the largest record collection I’ve ever seen this move took 3 days. Also got to meet Ra McGuire. Ghostsof1915
He was the Province music critic? Once upon a time Vancouver had a really good local music scene. Pretty quiet now. A lot of great places shut down. I still miss The Starfish Room. At least the Commodore is back. 2
Cold
Back in the early 90’s, I had the surreal experience of hearing a couple of songs our band had recorded on Cfox after just leaving a pub. Both myself and the drummer were leaving the pub, got into our cars and boom, there we were on the radio. We had sent a copy of our demo to Tom Harrison and played it on his demolisten radio show. Both of us just sat there stunned listening to our low quality demo coming out of one of the biggest rock radio stations in the city and into our cars. It’s a moment seared into my brain. Thank you Mr. Harrison for supporting the little guy. May you Rest In Peace. 3
