The sharks may miss the playoffs. Their goal tending isnt great and they have a lot of aging injury risk players, especially on the backend.

[GDT] 2019 NHL Entry Draft
Master Higgins replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in General Hockey Discussion
Really wanted us to to move up from 40 to get thomson, but surprised he went so high. -
Podkolzin was my second choice after boldy for what was available, super happy to have one of the highly skilled and hard nosed forwards in the system. Looking forward to seeing him playing hard night in and night out for the canucks, making teams that passed on him look foolish come playoff time.

[GDT] 2019 NHL Entry Draft

I’d be far more concerned if benning was happy accepting low evaluations of our players -
Two years of shattenkirk may be worth the risk, and we will most likely get a decent add to take the contract. Another pick perhaps, rangers will need the space for a trouba contract. This would also allow us to move tanev a little more freely. While its a gamble, its only a gamble in terms of cap space which we have. It fills a need. Best case scenario he can find his game again and we can trade him as a rental two deadlines from now. Worst case have two years of an ugly contract.

[Rumour] Jesse Puljujarvi requests trade
Master Higgins replied to -Vintage Canuck-'s topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I’d like to take a chance on poolparty, but JV is likely the price it would cost. Not sure why everyone insists on putting goldy into every proposal. He has zero value and likely a khl player next year. Sutter makes too much $$ for edm even at 50% retained. Value wise jv makes the most sense maybe leivo, i’m ok with moving either but pooly is a pretty big risk. On the flip side i doubt edm wants to trade him to a divisional rival in case he finds his game. Probably the same for us and jv i imagine. -
2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC
Master Higgins replied to Qwags's topic in Prospects / Farm Team
The draft excitement is really starting to ramp up the closer we get. This draft being so wide open after #2 makes it even more intriguing. Plus all the trade chatter, even more than most years. Just cant wait to see how it all unfolds -
Callahan would have to waive to come here as well

[Proposal] VAN, CBJ, CAR
Master Higgins replied to FrankieCorrado's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
I dont think thats enough to get murray. And personally i dont want to invest in another d-man made of glass. And i agree with you i dont think we can afford to give up the kind of assets to acquire the calibre of d-man this team needs. -
For me, i think we would have to be getting their 2nd this year too. Let jb get a better chance at the guy he likes and another 2nd this year. But even then it could be bad unless the new cba gives us some compliance buyouts

2019 NHL Entry Draft in Vancouver, BC

While i agree with the sentiment, can you imagine winning the lottery the year after the switch when the only guys available are 20yo who have been passed over twice already. -

At this point i’m fully on board the boldy train. Hope he,’s still there at 10, if not zegras or newhook for me. Boldy just screams playoff performer to me -
Ottawa’s pick was protected, but you can only protect it for so long. They just didnt expect to be so bad two years in a row.

Oilers also have dmitri samorukov, who looks to be a very good d prospect. They finally seem to be willing to let their young guys develop. Bad news for us i guess, but i hate watching so many young careers get destroyed before even getting a chance. -
Sport reporting isnt a dying breed, as we as fans still need them to get the inside info that we aren’t privy to. Wether its beat writers or tv talk shows. The problem is there's far too many of them now. Information travels so quickly now that one reporter can do what use to take ten to do, so we have a bunch trying to set themselves apart from the rest by sensationalizing everything. Trade rumours i tend to like a lot. I dont put much stock in any of them actually happening but thats not really the point of them. If you’ve read or listened to any retired gm’s you realized just how many deals are talked about throughout a season, most never go through. But i feel if the source of the rumours is legit it gives an interesting insight on some of the deals and thought processes of the current gm’s.

[PROPOSAL] OTTAWA - VANCOUVER trade
Master Higgins replied to canuckistani's topic in Proposals and Armchair GM'ing
There is no chance ottawa gives up a good pick to take eriksson. Even with mcarthur coming back, it saves them no real world dollars. They may have interest in eriksson for ryan, but even then i doubt you get something as good as a 2nd out of it. -
Wouldnt this be equivalent to us trading #10 to edm for their 2nd 4th and Kirill Maksimov? Sounds pretty awful to me.

I wonder if they’ll do a tribute to him at the draft in vancouver.

[Speculation] Lucic says he would like to play here
Master Higgins replied to Provost's topic in Trades, Rumours, Signings
I imagine it has less to do with him wanting to playing in vancouver, and more to do with him wanting to play anywhere but edmonton.
