  1. No thanks, I don't want the canucks sniffing around Kuznetsov
  2. The NHL is too nice. I think GM's should offersheet more frequently. I would be OK with trying to poach him, but don't see it happening.
  3. Counter point, if you don't like the "anxiety ridden framing" by the media, don't talk about it. Media only exist as entertainment. If in generates conversation, good or bad, it's doing it's job. This is the exact same argument I have about Drance. He's extremely good at his job, which is entertainment. Shah, Riccio, Halford and Brough and likely others all get more air time then Drance on 650. But he usually generates the most conversation around the Canucks, even if that is people hating on his take. It's still generating conversation around his takes, which is why he has a job. If people truely didn't like it, it wouldn't exist because it wouldn't be good entertainment. Is there negative consequences in the diversity of opinions in our media, yes. But we also have one of the most engaged fanbase in the NHL and it's also likely in part a byproduct of our media.
  4. Knowing the Canucks, he'll have an incredible start to the season, put up 25 points in 30 games and CDCs collective head will explode. Then he'll trail off into obscurity, and everything will return back to normal.
  5. Holy cow, what a freaking deal. He'll be earning a massive contract is a couple years. Kid would easily be our most valuable defensemen not named Quinn and they got him in go time for a song. Great deal for the rags.
  6. Partially, he looked much more NHL ready in his time there. But more based on his performance is the top tier of sweden hockey in comparison to Willanders experience in only the juniors. D-Petey has already played against men, and will be gaining more experience again this year. Willander is looking at a likely 2 year stint in college, and they reassessing from there. I wouldn't be shocked to see D-Petey playing pro hockey in North America as soon as the 24-25 season, while Willander will still be in college.
  7. I would counter point that D-Petey is far closer to playing in the NHL than Willander. Like considerably closer.
  8. My old man always used to say, it's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.
  9. They Will not regret that deal, he's a good player.
  10. entirely agree. Letting him walk was the worst one that off season, even over Tanev IMO. Tanev in hindsight was a terrible call, but at the time he was to injury prone to commit years to at his age.
  11. My issue was a rental. We were not in the position to be buying rentals for playoff runs. We didn't have the prospect or draft capital.
  12. I know he's not a fit for us, but I would personally take a chance on Zadina. I actually have liked the way his game has progressed in Detriot. There is just something off about his shot so he hasn't been scoring at all. It's like he hasn't been able to figure out how to fool an NHL goalie, or maybe it's just a severe lack of confidence. But his defensive play and checking ability has increased dramatically from what I have seen. If he figures out his scoring, I think he has potential to be a a very solid middle 6 player in the future.
  13. He was! Who knows, maybe he still will be going forward. But aging curves tell us he's likely going to be on the decline going forward. He's also been averaging nearly 2k minutes a season for the last couple, those are workhorse Hughes numbers. I don't particularly like a 23 year old Hughes doing that, I really don't like a 31 year old defensemen putting added miles onto his body. No chance I would trade major futures for him personally.
  14. The new team is working at un-Benninging Hoglanders development, and I have high hopes it will be successful.
  15. Don't know for sure, but I don't think he's directly with the Canucks... as of now. He will be coaching Orebro, where D Petey played last year. Lekkerimaki will also be joining the team this year, so suspect they are just furthering the working relationship with Hedberg since he will be coaching 2 important prospects for us?
  16. Haven't kept up with him at all because. why would I? Looks like his production in the AHL stalled a bit in the last year. Wonder if he was playing more a defensive role or if he's just not all that. Hated this trade when it happened, but hated it even more when we let Tofu walk after he seemed to be such a good fit for the team.
  17. Still worth that type of money I'd say, still a very effective player even as he ages. Glad he didn't take a team friendly to help LA out, they could have a scary team going forward if everything aligns for them.
  18. The effect good structure can have on a chaotic defensemen, in a contract year, can not be understated.
  19. One does not simply trade Myers and Garland. The trade lines are guarded by more then just cap restraints. GM's are evil that do not sleep. The great Bettman is ever watchful. The trade market is a barren wasteland, riddled with fire, ash, and dust. The very call you make is not but wasted hot air. Not with ten thousand draft picks could you do this. It is folly.
  20. Nice spin? The only spin here was you. You were the one pumping his tires nonstop for years talking about how much he would improve the team and then posting articles about deaths of Russians the second he didn't choose to come over. Where was your concern over his safety for the dozens of pages before he decided to stay in Russia?
  21. I'd counterpoint he's currently only suited for a bottom 6 right now. Kids scoring is gone, but he's a pretty good checker.
