I think the comparison is closer than you give credit.
When you see gun violence (the symptom), you point to the problem (current laws) start talking about gun control legislation (your prescribed solution). This is normal in such events. People want to start talking about solutions and problem solving the symptoms of a failed part of society/humanity.
How I understand Kragar is that he is saying that he sees this bombing as the symptom, the ideology of Islam as the problem (or at least a part of), and the public discussion of this ideology as the prescribed solution. He wants to get to his solution here just like you do in the event of gun violence. The issue he takes with the tweets is that Obama and Hillary seem to purposefully ignore the problem and solution, as do you. When gun violence happens, many will say "its not the time to have that conversation", when you try talking about your solutions. Similarly, when Obama and Hillary refuse to acknowledge or talk about the problems with Islamic violence, they are in essence having the exact same reaction. Hence, he sees hypocrisy.
