THOR is hands down #1, and I'll point out that everytime Thor has fought the Silver Surfer he has won. They have fought 2 or 3 times with Thor winning each time. I'll also point out that Thors powers increase with age as he becomes King, etc and this makes sense as compared to some super hero's who become more powerful just based upon the whim of the person writing the story. Thor grows into his powers in a way that is understandable. BTW, I veto any attempt to remove or restrict any of THOR's powers.

Nope....'super' means that these Heros, have 'super' or above or beyond, natural abilites.

Doesn't this actually negate Batman since he is just a regular human with really cool toys?

If a regular man can hang with those gifted with supernatural powers, I'd say he's more than welcome. hell, if you really want your mom to be entered into the contest so be it, but it'll be a VERY quick argument/fight.

I already apologized to SS for my crazy tangent (actually meant mothers in general), so no that is not my wish.

I just thought being Super had more to do with their acts than their abilities. SS explained otherwise as I quoted so I thought that might negate Batman. I, since I voted for him, am quite happy with him still being on the list.

Let's consider his access to tech and finances as his 'super' power. ;)

I don't think we ever did settle the Surfer vs Hulk battle.

Surfer was eliminated due to cheating with the power cosmic.

Much as I like Thor, he hasn't been able to beat the Hulk. No one is stronger than Hulk, HULK SMASH!!

Not true, there is a comic where Thor fights him to a draw without his hammer. You must remember that Thor was able to lift the midguard serpent which has a diameter equal to the earth.

It works either way. The distance through the midpart of the serpant and the distance through the earth is roughly the same.

Suprised nobody said this yet but Hulk beats Batman any day. Hulk's faster, stronger, and actually has super powers, love Batman but this isn't even a competion, Hulk wins.

Edit: did some research and found DC special series vol 1 #27 Batman vs The incredible Hulk, unfortunately I have not read it and couldn't find out the result anywhere online. Anybody read it or know the ending? I'm guessing Hulk would win but for those of you who need proof it's out there somewhere.

Actually I was wrong too. It should have said:

The length of the snake is equal to the circumference of the Earth. That makes the snake much smaller, although still freaking huge.

I think the onus is on The Batman's supporters now, to put up some sort of fight against 'The Hulk'.

The Hulk vs The Batman......is on.

It has nothing to do with the length of the snake. It's cross section, at the midpoint is equal to the diameter of the earth, it could easily wrap it's coils around the earth.

Batman used knockout gas (the hulks one weakness) and punched him in the gut hard enough to make him inhale it. Batman won.

Not bad...not bad at all Avsie.

Knockout gas IS and HAS been known to work better on subduing him than even barrage of bombs.

I think you're on to something here.

and if there's one thing that batman has an ample supply of, it would be knockout gas. Hell he can manufacture it en-masse and as powerful as he needs it to be, beyond military grade if he so needs (hell he probably already has that in his utility belt.

Wow I stand corrected, read this in that very comment section and found it quite interesting.

"Oh yes, the part where the monster who walks through artillery rounds like they're a swarm of gnats gets hit by the
guy with the strength of a normal human athelete and we're
expected to believe he notices.

Gee, someone call the Hulkbusters and tell them that all they need to take out the Hulk is a canister of sleep gas and a man with normal human strength. Who knew?

That's much more effective than hitting him with weapons of mass destruction, which has been tried and failed."

hulk has been knocked out numerous times with sleep gas. he needs to breath, one of his only flaws i suppose. still, sleep gas = the win for the batman.

and yet he keeps getting knocked out by sleeping gas.

you think he would have adapted to not being affected by that already...
