From interviews it seems Daniel and Henrik are getting a little peeved about being passed over in the shootouts.

5 shooters today, including Edler (who did score) and none of them named Sedin.

Last time they used Bieksa over the twins. Kind of weird to diss back to back Art Ross Winners.

They're bad at shootouts, and if anybody can put aside their egos for the good of the team, it's the twins.

That being said, they should be given some opportunities. The skill is definitely there, it just isn't translating into shootouts. I think they should really practice at them, which I'm sure they do and will continue to do, we all know how strong their work ethic is.

i cant recall a time where a sedin has scored in the shootout for us.. its been a long time.
yeah yeah, maybe if they were given a chance more often they would score more often, but id take burrows, mayray and other players like hodgson or hansen anyday.

sedins have many strengths. the shootout im afraid aint one of em.

Sportsnet stirring useless crap that people on this board go nuts about, Sedins dont deserve it right now, they've always been terrible in their attempts so I wouldnt give em a shot till down the road.

Last time I remember Daniel in the SO was last year against the Hawks, and it was a super pretty goal.

Because this kind of thing happens. Who cares if they're terrible in shootouts? They're usually the best players on the team.

Meh.. it's not dissing the back to back Art Ross winners. The Sedins game relies on puck possession and all these pretty tape to tape passes, it doesn't directly translate into a shootout. I often see them try to do a move and then neatly tuck in the puck under the goalie's pad, they never really get it high which is probably where they could improve most on.

Certainly they're the best players on our team, no doubt about that. But they simply don't need to go in the SO when the coach knows they're not good at them. And why do people care about SO anyways, it's not like we'll be faced with this predicament when winning games actually matters.

these 2 are so weak in shootout... i remember a few times they did it, all they did is going in slow motion and put in on the goalie pad like a 10 yr old kid...

Unfortunately, you can't pass in the shootout.

That's why the twins aren't in it.

Daniel's actually decent in the shootout. I would love for him to be a part of the rotation. I'd be fine without having Henrik though

They are about as "weak" as any other player on the team in the shootout.

Something that you should perhaps take into consideration on Alain Vigneaut's(sp?) behalf, is that as a coach when things don't work you have to try something different. The Sedin twins are star players. But sometimes as you've all obvserved, they don't make their magic happen 100% of the time and overthink things.

Another possibility is that when teams face one another, sometimes they prepare for the likelihood of a shootout. Goalies can be studied for their tendencies in net (ie Luongo being vulnerable at his glove hand, and when you make him move his 5hole opens up). You can also study the opposing team's shooters, which is something a goalie at the NHL level could sometimes consider. So with all that said, is it not possible that AV likes to give the other team something to think about by using unlikely players in the shootout lineup? I mean let's face it, who the hell knows what a defenceman like Edler is going to do with himself in a shootout, but clearly that worked out.

Give AV some credit guys, he is a great coach. Agree or disagree with some of his tactics, you can't overlook the fact that he is a very adaptable and perceptive man. You can't deny that he himself has improved his coaching since we first aquired him. Sometimes it's not just the players that have improvements to make.

I've never understood why the twins, two of the premier players in the NHL, aren't given a chance in the SO. 'They're bad at the shootout'? Come on, Daniel has the most accurate shot on the Canucks, and he's only had a few chances at the SO. He could just skate in on the goalie and pick a corner like he does so well. He should be at least given the chance again. What other team would not send out their top point getters in the SO?

I think the Sedins have agreed to by pass the shootouts to allow other teammates opportunities. They see that they are the leaders of the team..so why not allow other teammates to be the heroes in shootouts. World class Leader!!
