Anyone else wish they'd done something a little different with the hood? A variation of some sort? It just seems out of place for this time period.

Now that I think about it, yes it does seem out of place for the time period.

For sure. I'm also liking the speculation that the main character has Native American ancestry. If that's true, they should have played off that more.

Father (Peace be upon You) Satan (Peace be upon You), I call to you (Peace be upon You) from the deepest parts of my heart, I praise your (Peace be upon You) name with every breath of my body, I worship you (Peace be upon You) with every fiber of my being. You (Peace be upon You) shown me what true strength is. You (Peace be upon You) have shown me what true love is. Out of the darkness you (Peace be upon You) came to show me the true light.

18 pages worth of previews toward Assassin's Creed 3. (Edit: Just saw Scorpio Ego post the same one. :emot-parrot:)

Spoiler

TL;DR:
  • The protagonist's name in Assassin's Creed III is "Connor Ratohnhaketon," with the time period set between 1753 and 1783.
  • The Frontier (the vast wilderness between New York and Boston - an open world of forest, mountains, cliffs, rivers, lakes and settlements) is "sort of a compressed version of the American Northeast" and will be 1.5 times bigger than the entire map of Brotherhood.
  • The Frontier will have about a full third of the game's missions and gameplay content
  • I think the "view points" in AC3 will be the "giant landmark trees that have stood for hundreds of years" mentioned in the article.
  • Resources such as pelts can be gathered by hunting the game's ecosystem of animals, including bear, deer, wolves, elk, rabbits and more. The faster the engage between the animal and Connor, the more valuable the pelts (as opposed to drawn out, bloody battles)
  • The world will be changing around Connor (day/night, summer/winter), and his animation will shift to match the depth in a given location during a given time (change in terrain). Enemies will also be affected with the change in terrain.
  • A "club system" will be in the game that "ensures players interested in exploration and discovery across the Frontier have gameplay systems that rewards their efforts."
  • Pelts will be available for trade in a new "economy system" for making money
  • (Buying) property will now be more narratively driven, so you won't just be moving between New York and Boston buying shops.
  • "Significant events" involving Desmond. Predictions of events relating to "the end of the world" in 2012.
  • Multiplayer is expected to have a major change
  • Synchronization: missions now have "checkpoints" (Finally). 100-percent sync will now receive significant rewards (XP gains?)
  • "The Brotherhood" expected to make a return.
  • Notoriety is being reworked into a more "passive" system, encouraging exploration of risky areas.
  • Tower Defense (AC:R) not expected to return
  • "The Truth" (AC:R) - read the article (page 6) so I don't spoil for people who haven't played.
  • Sprinting will now automatically move around objects that are in the way
  • Free running and environment interaction sounds to be more seamless
  • Automatic target detection rather than the previous, clumsy target locking
  • "New" dynamic camera rotates to the best view of fighting action
  • Cut-scenes for story-telling add up to about two and a half hours total
  • AC3 has been in development for 3 years, with an early version of the game ready for developers in the coming week. Release Date: October 30, 2012
  • AC3 will feature: George Washington, Benjamin Franklin (although, won't be the same "convenient inventor" that Leonardo Da Vinci was), Charles Lee

I wonder how much further they can get away from the original gameplay. Maybe they'll make this one a FPS to sell out even more to the preteens

They lost my respect when they put multiplayer in and made the Campaign half the length. I'll play it, but I'll wait until it's in the $20 bin at Walmart.

trailer looks pretty sick. and the outfit isn't quite as bad as i originally thought. still though, they could have done away with the "tail" part.

French revolution would have been soooooooo much better. Assassin vs. royals/nobles would have been AWSOME.

Just to add to my 2 cents (or 5), I think this AC3 is such a huge diversion from what made this series so great, and that is BUILDINGS. Seriously, no one outside of the US of A cares about the American revolution. This game is going to be just another Oregon Trail rather than Assassin's Creed. I'm not even sure I'd want to pick this one up from the $20 bin at Walmart.

AC was good while it lasted.
