Bertuzzi Babe
No surprise at all in this announcement, you'd have to be daft and blind not to expect it. A huge thank you to all the ****rats and thugs who had to ruin it for fans who would like to celebrate with other law abiding Canucks fans. ThaBestPlaceOnEarth
Probably the dumbest idea ever was putting those giant screens up and inviting everyone down, what did they expect?
PlayStation
Good now FANS can actually watch the game at home and idiots who jump the bandwagon just because they want to go party downtown wont have that motivation.
grandmaster
So what about people who live downtown? Stay in your houses, don't come outside! Sorry buddy, it's a free country. Maybe if you had done your job properly, we wouldn't have to worry about it.

gearworx
I'm goin down anyway. Like DeNiro,"it's a free country". I also wasn't involved in any of the shenanigans downtown. Not all Canucks fans are hooligans either.
TheDugg1er
Thing is it was all good for the entire Olympics, and all good until after game 7 of the playoffs. Hindsight says 'Don't come downtown.' But it also says 'Where the frack were the cops?' and 'Why so long for some criminal charges to be laid?' Still, it's always a few bad apples spoil the bunch and it's going to be the case again this summer, in that there will obviously be a heavier police presense. No Fun City is back. Cheers. zejono
I think they should do that thing from the simpsons movie where that giant dome covers the city but it should be used on Surrey. I guarantee you there will be no problems
Canada Hockey Place
It's a shame. If they did a better job of charging those responsible, I think the citizens would have been better prepared this time. More people would be co-operative and sympathetic with the police, paramedic and fire efforts. More people would of the collective mindset to protect others and stop vandals. And many, many more people would be taking pictures. The main reason the riot occurred is because the 1994 riots were either forgotten or just not understood by those who weren't around to experience it. A lot of younger people probably thought it was cool to riot because they had never seen it from an outside perspective. I'm sure they've changed their minds once they've experienced how truly stupid and pointless it is.

Toni Zamboni
if there isnt a sanctioned gathering with good police presence it will lead to a bunch of renegade gatherings that could get way more out of hand ala the last riot in London, Ont. just sayin.
