Peter Forsberg was the only swedish forward to ever do well in the playoffs. Can anyone remember any others? And i mean to stand out and lead...

yeah lets get Lucic and getzlaf ...

It doesn't matter what country you are from if you don't fit in with what team currently has you will not improve the team.

But..........i would like to add one canadian player.....

Hakan Loob was pretty good for Calgary in 89 Cup run.

Hakan Loob was pretty good for Calgary in 89 Cup run.

But that is one where he was a force during the regular season and though he had a decent playoffs, he was in the back seat compared to Doug Gilmour, Al MacInnes who really led the way.

Winning the Stanley Cup is the pinnacle achievement in Canadian hockey. It is what every little hockey player is playing for on streets around Canada, "its overtime in game 7 of the Stanley Cup finals, he shoots he scores!!!" I'm sure nearly every CDC user has said that phrase or been in many other Stanley Cup winning scenarios on the streets. When the fortunate Canadians get that opportunity to seize what they've always dreamed of they will do everything they can for the opportunity to hoist that trophy.

Do the Canucks need to Canadianise, well I don't know if I'd go that far but adding a few Canucks to the Canucks definitely wouldn't be a bad thing.

Would love to have both but we will get more out of Cory, a couple key offensive guys and we won't even need to worry about goal tending.

The Canucks were close in their first season when they tried to cash in on Ed Hatoum, the first player born in Lebanon to play in the NHL. Sadly, Detroit had him first and all the good karma rubbed off of them, hence there several Cups in the last while.

It's time to de-Gillisize this team.

Truth. Trading for Pahlsson was his only competent desicion this whole year, and since we can't possible have done any worse without Pahlsson all it really did was cost us a couple of picks.

Props to canuckbuddy for the sig

dumb stuff.

yeah, who doesn't like the way 'real' Canadian players play the game, but just to illustrate, there are some big name Canadians that have failed repeatedly when it comes to playoff hockey... Joe Thornton, Dany Heatley, Jason Spezza, etc... lots of Canadian players I would sure as hell not want on my team. If you truly want to build the best team, there are going to be Swedes, Fins, Czechs, Russians, Danes, etc, even Americans ::D, on your team. Ask Mike Babcock if he needs a certain nationality in order to win...

Yes, because the country from where you grew up in determines your "playoff-readiness."

Seems legit.

If we're going to dive like soccer players we should sign soccer players to bolster the lineup.

Detroit is an exception to EVERYTHING!

They can trade there first round draft picks year after year and still be amazing

They always make the playoffs

They win with Euro's

They can go deep 2 years in a row

Good on you for flying to LA to support your team. So try supporting them on here as well.

Thank you.

I do but I'm not going to give a real reply if the thread has no real substance.

..............There may be some truth to this. I always thought we were too foreign. Somethings missing, and it's easy to look at big jacked home grown all stars and say HEY I WANT ONE. The majority of our Canadians are filler roles. Burrows, Bieksa and Hammer are the only consistent top minute men. Our "stud" is a whiney yank, Booth and Higgy are legit though.

Also think a Canadian team should have a Canadian captain, something nostalgic about it, though Hank is proving pretty bada** and far and away the best choice on our current roster.

Obviously, Euros like Swedes (Edler), Danes and others can't win us the cup. They are too soft for today's NHL. They are not built for the playoffs.

Now, the Americans like Kesler, Booth and Higgins are all on-and-off guys. Not talented enough.

The only solution is to accumulate as much Canadians into the system like what Chicago and Boston did and win us the Cup.

The only exception to this is Luongo and Bieksa. They are Canadians but they fall into the category of the Americans.

I've got a better idea for you: How about if the Canucks are composed only of people born in BC? Or, better yet, only within the city limits of Vancouver?

Keslers been our best player overall since 2010. For anyone who says he sucks because he does'nt collect as many points as he used to, doesn't watch his screens on the PP, or his kills on the PK.
